So let me get this straight. You are changing your facebook profile to www.facebook.com/your.name so when you are out you can give people the URL to your facebook page, instead of giving them your name ..... which is your facebook URL now anyway?

Yeah they sent out letters to everyone saying they're deleting the homepage servers & all your content. You had to migrate your stuff over to one of their paid hosting plans or the free replacement:- bigpondblogs. I got in quick & saved all the contents of my site(s) before they went bye bye, not sure I cbf re-uploading though as I only used it for images and now I just use photobucket/tinypic for that.

I got my surname just as I did on my dot com domain, myspace, gmail, hotmail, xoom, geocities, the whole history of the internet...

Every now and again I get a message from some randoms with the same surname as me going "hmm I see you got the name...".

i got firstlast (no dot)

The dot is irrelevant - its like GMail. You could have firstname.lastname, firstnamelastname or f.i.r.s.t.n.a.m.e.l.a.s.t.n.a.m.e and it goes to the same place.

its easier to say "first dot last" then to say "first last with no space in between"

also most business mail has first.last@bla so it habbit to say it like that
