It's been seven years since we first stepped parkoured foot into the world of Dying Light and while all eyes have right been fixated on Dying Light 2 Stay Human, developer techland was never going to let its sequel steal all of the thunder, announcing today a next-gen patch which brings the first game in line with next-gen consoles, while also offering a boost to both the PS4 Pro and Xbox One versions of the game.

For some, news of this update might seem odd given the age of the game in questions, but it's not really surprising if you've followed Techland and its support of Dying Light, which hasn't let up at all in its lifeto date.
The long-awaited next-gen patch for Dying Light releases today for PlayStation consoles, adding 4K and 60 FPS support to PlayStation 5 and an improved 30 FPS cap to PlayStation 4 Pro. From today, PS5 players will be able to run the original open-world action survival phenomenon in one of the modes listed below. The same patch will be available for all Xbox Series X|S players in just a few days.

PlayStation Family - Patch available today (9 March)

PS5 Modes
  • Performance mode now gets you 60 FPS in Full HD resolution
  • Balanced mode targets 60 FPS in QHD resolution
  • High-Resolution mode offers 30 FPS in 4K
PS4 Pro Update
  • Improved 30 FPS cap
Xbox Family - Patch available soon

Xbox Series X Modes
  • Performance mode now gets you 60 FPS in Full HD resolution
  • Balanced mode targets 60 FPS in QHD resolution
  • High-Resolution mode offers 30 FPS in 4K
Xbox Series S + Xbox One Modes
  • Performance mode offers 30 FPS in full HD resolution
  • High-resolution mode targets 30 FPS in Quad HD resolution
For the PIs out there, full patch notes can be found here, and it should be noted the "available soon" tag for the Xbox platforms is just a couple of days from now.

Stick around for more Dying Light and Dying Light 2 Stay Human content, right here in AusGamers coming soon.
