Topic: Rockstar Games Comments on the Lack of Single-Player Add-Ons...

We all kind of expected it at some point, mainly because Rockstar had done just that with its previous titles, but it look like we can finally say goodbye to the prospect of GTA V single-player content. In a new interview over at Game Informer, Rockstar director of design Imran Sarwar opened up about the lack of any single player add-ons for what's essentially one of the most successful games of all time.

"No, it was not really a conscious decision, it’s just what happened. We would love to do more single-player add-ons for games in the future. As a company we love single-player more than anything, and believe in it absolutely – for storytelling and a sense of immersion in a world, multiplayer games don’t rival single-player games."

Adding,

"With GTA V, the single-player game was absolutely massive and very, very complete. It was three games in one. The next-gen versions took a year of everyone’s time to get right, then the online component had a lot of potential, but to come close to realizing that potential also sucked up a lot of resources. And then there are other games – in particular Red Dead Redemption II. The combination of these three factors means for this game, we did not feel single-player expansions were either possible or necessary, but we may well do them for future projects."

Which makes sense. The explosion in popularity of GTA Online, PC and next-gen console versions, and also working on Red Dead Redemption II - it does leave little room for anything else. Still, we would have likes to have gotten a single-player expansion of some kind.

Horse s***. They just got lazy and wanted to milk the online content. Yeah, the story for Michael, Trevor and Franklin is complete but that does not mean they can not add more to it or even have a new story with another character or even just more s*** to do in single player. I hope they just release GTA Online and keep GTA 6 a separate single player entity, everyone gets something then.

I wonder what they will do with RDR 2 in terms of multiplayer, will it be pretty much GTA online and just not bother with any singeplayer expansion/DLC or is there even a multiplayer? Is it just like some deathmatch and TDM in RDR 2?

Either way, a pox on their house. /nerdrage

Nah, there will almost definitely be a Red Dead Online component, GTA Online has been ridiculously successful for them and made a tonne of money so theres no way they wont do it again

They could at least unlock all of the GTA online content for story mode.

I can't see them ignoring the inroads they've made with GTA Online with RDR2. As Khel said, the continued success of the game is ridiculous, and having a wild west to play around in online with friends is a no-brainer from a development perspective

GTAV was a huge game. I guessed they figured they would make more money by moving to RDR.

the online stuff in RDR was a bit weird because the land is so sparse compared to GTA where it is a huge city

RDR is literally desert with small towns dotted around it
