Unfortunately I don't have any of Dale's friends' numbers so this is one of the few ways I can contact people. He is on a steady decline and I'll be taking all of QGL's well wishes to him this weekend.

Even though the news of Mavs decline was inevitable, it doesn't make it any easier to read.

I don't personally know Mav, I only know him through these forums, but I still can't help having a bit of a cry knowing what's coming to someone I'd consider one of our own. A QGL boy.

I was going to make the exact thread yesterday asking the same question - how is mav doing :( I hate when I do that.

Decline is a very appropriate term. Its not about a social taboo, its common decency. I for one don't want - and definetly don't need - any of the fine detail. I hope that this is as dignified a time as possible for Maverik.

Didn't really want to hear about it, that way I can think he's still going strong.

He stayed healthy for a long time despite the cancer and is still hanging on now even though he's very sick. He's a fighter and a very strong individual.

It's not about perpetuating a taboo, or acting mysterious and vague ... it's about respect. Respect for the people who care for Dale, they don't need or want graphic detail of how their friend/loved one is dying; respect for Dale, because he shouldn't have to worry about how he is going to be remembered.

My Little Ferg is on his last days but you should all know that he is not suffering at all. He mainly sleeps a lot and just drinks water. He will most likely go to sleep one day and simply not wake up.
just wanted you all to know how much we appreciate your kind words and thoughts and thank you for being his friends.
Some of you might know that he and i have always been best of mates as well as father and son so i know of most of his antics (he takes after his old man) and i have enjoyed reading your banter in the stuff i have been able to find on these forums.

I respect the courage that you and your family hold and most importantely, the courage that Dale displayed in dealing with his illness.

He will be missed by all.

I spoke to Dale a fair bit on MSN.... but I only met him once in person.

He took the effort to make me feel comfortable at a QGL event (skirmish) and spent the day with me because I knew nobody, and was a loner. Very small gesture to some, but the fact that he was the only one that went out of his way, spoke heaps of his character.

Very genuine bloke that on that one day made everything that much more enjoyable.

Rest in peace Dale. I've never met you in real life but, you're a brave, brave soul mate. Condolences and best wishes to your family.

I am sorry to hear that the cancer got the best of him. he was doing so well. he was one of the most positive people i have ever met, i didn't think he would lose this fight, again i am very sorry.

i met you once when we came for a swim at your house at alexhills. we use to go out clubbing all the time. we stayed down the coast for a weekend. he was great to hang around, nothing got him down. he will be missed greatly
