It's been a while since we've heard anything about the Gears of War movie, but it sounds like they might be getting close to commencing production. From the 2009 San Diego Comic Con, game video site G4TV have a collaboration of interviews with both Epic Games developers Cliff Blezinski and Rod Ferguson as well as the film's attached director Len Weisman (Die Hard 4, Underworld: Evolution) and writer Chris Morgan.

They don't reveal any specifics and there's no hint of a release date or anything like that, but what is encouraging is how they talk about maintaining the game's style, premise and characters in the conversion to film - one aspect that has been a major fail point on most of the s***ty game to movie adaptations we've seen to-date.
