The newest edition of the US's GameInformer magazine will feature a first look at the Raven Software developed Singularity, a shooter Activision unveiled at last year's E3.

According to the GI article, the game is set during the Cold War (gaming's new WWII), where an American pilot crash lands on an island crawling with Russian military. It's here he discovers the results of experimentation with the element E99, and as you would expect, the fate of the world is now in his hands. Apparently time will play a huge factor in the game, and you'll even be able to age individual enemies on the spot to kill them (maybe you should be able to reverse their age as well, ala Benjamin Button).

Sounds interesting though. There's likely going to be a lot more information available as soon as the GameInformer issue is on sale, so stay tuned for more details as they become available.

and its always about saving the world. Why can't it be about some farmer discovering that his cows have been molested by invading army soldiers and decides to take revenge with his arsenal of throwable pitchforks, shovels and cow dung?

This isn't WWII though, it's Cold War (where nothing really happened) - but the Cold War is fast becoming the new FPS stomping ground...

You realise that the Russians were our allies in WWII, right?

Does it make a difference if the russians were allies or not? It's still foreign enemy trying to take over the world and shouting at you in foreign language. It's still the same old s***, with the enemy being Russian instead of German.

For a new and fresh game plot, play Psychonauts. Massive fun with some elements I guarantee you won't have seen in a game before. I'm about halfway through it right now and am loving it.
