Valve today announced DLC for Left 4 Dead 2 would be arriving in the early part of 2010, and will bring the original survivors from Left 4 Dead down south to meet up with the newest cast of zombie fighters.

"The Passing will become the most important campaign in the Left 4 Dead story, as all the Survivors are being called together in one campaign," explained Valve VP of marketing guru, Doug Lombardi, by way of the official press release. "It will also be a huge offering of new gameplay content, with something new for every game mode plus a new uncommon common and weaponry."

The content will also feature new arenas for Versus, Scavenge and Survival as well as a new co-op challenge mode and introduce an entirely new zombie class, all alongside the new single-player and co-op additions to narrative.

Currently "early 2010" is as close to a release date as we have.

Surely not? I assumed it was just a meeting story-wise, not 8 survivors.

That would be sooo awesome.

I doubt it will become 8vs8, you would have to throw more uncommon at the 8, which would just introduce too heavy system req's for probably a big portion of playerbase, particularly 360 players.

Targeted for release in early spring, "The Passing" takes place just after the Dead Center campaign of L4D2. Set in a small town in rural Georgia, players assume the role of the L4D2 Survivors as they meet with the L4D1 characters.

The above is taken from Steam. So it looks like we will only play as the L4D2 survivors not the L4D1 survivors.

The game is crap enough trying to get 4 players playing, or 8 players in a versus who aren't spastic/pings over 400 etc. etc.
Let alone 16 :/

Speaking of which, I'd like to see a patch that allows you to at least refresh, and sort or even filter, steam group servers.

i dont have issues with servers... i normally just join steam group server then ask everyone to join then change the difficulty and restart the mission.

Getting a good server isn't an issue when with friends.
I meant when you want to just have a quick bash of versus with 1 or 2 of you.
To get on a server is a pain, then 90% of the time you do, you're on a local aussie server, but everyone else is in singapore or are yanks etc.

The moral of the story is, console lobbies/matchmaking are bad :<

the asian swarms are plain weird
- you get on a server and it's full of weird names or one side where all the names are two consonants
- they _refuse_ to speak either over the mic or by typing
- they are really, really, really, really bad at fps in general, let alone the left4dead-specific parts of fps
- when you start pwning them, your own team votekicks you and they all vote yes within a split second of each other

did I interrupt some weird fps training program by simply joining and playing normally?!
are they using telepathy or some external voicechat or what!?

it's truly bizzare

I get that with f***wit Americans Jim on 3FL.

Join a 7/8 steamgroup server on map 1.

You're surrounded by a bunch of loudmouths over mics all with 500 pings. Then they start going "who the hell is Knife, what is he doing in here... get out". Which I respond "f*** off, it's a public Australia server, suck a dick".

Then I get voted out.

Oh yeah, they're complete and utter noobs... who the hell plays an entire versus campaign on an international server?

...me!
I often end up playing on US servers cos there seems to be much less a ratio of fail/rq's. but the last few days more and more of them seem to be running high ping kick

prolly need to do that here

whenever i join a server usually half of the people that are playing are hpb's. guess they dont realise that you can search for servers in a specific region.

never had any problems with hpb's in the first game. everyone were aussies.

Yeah wtf is with all the instant votekicks on L4D2? I finally snapped the other week and ended up re-joining the server every 15min to incap them all before they could re-kick.

I've found this to be the downside of joining games through the open server browser eh. good pings are easier to spot.. but some peeps just don't like you accidently jumping into their friends only game, even if the rest of their mates haven't shown yet

Just found out what the new Special Infected is!

It's an Australian, over the age of 18 - that enjoys playing video games who also understands that they (conundrum right?) aren't real.

Just reading the steam foramz. Many people are complaining about joining 3FL servers when they are from Europe/US/Asia etc. Valve are looking into it.

3FL host 12% of all l4d2 servers apparently.
