Nintendo have just sent through word a new Nintendo DS title, Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir, will be arriving on the Nintendo DS in Australia, October 16. The game, a seek-and-solve title will be reminiscent of the old PC point-and-click detective adventures of yesteryear.
players assume the role of a detective who investigates a set of unique characters, or heirs, by finding cleverly hidden items in their environments. The objects are displayed in plain sight but are seamlessly interwoven into the scene, making them challenging to find. There are 12 potential heirs to examine, 30 detailed scenes to investigate and more than 1,000 hidden objects to find. Finding hidden objects is not the only activity in Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir, between investigations players are challenged with brain
teasers.
Sounds pretty cool. I've been a proponent of these types of games invading the DS ever since the stylus and touchscreen system was announced. What other classic point-and-click adventures could you see working on the DS?

For lucasarts to re-release Monkey Island 1 & 2, Maniac Mansion, DOTT, Sam & Max and the other SCUMM titles on the DS.

I think lucasarts have said that the DS carts don't have enough storage for it to be viable. You can however put scummvm on a flashcart and play it that way.

There is also a version of scummvm for the Wii. It just feels so natural playing scumm games with the wiimote.

It's funny how they say it isn't viable, yet it clearly works.

I'm positive DS carts have reached the 256meg mark.

The original games came on like 10 disks or less, which could probably fit on the smallest carts they have.
But its obviously just a bulls*** excuse, why don't they just say "we cbf" or "we don't see any profit in doing it" instead of easily debunkable arguments like in the force unleashed thread where they said they wouldn't make the game for pc due to it not running well enough on low end pcs, yet it is being whored out on every console and handheld. (rant assumes that the space comment is true and not made up)

There's a scumm emulator for the DS that runs the games. How well I don't know but the point is that the DS runs it.

Also without going into wares territory, The World Ends With You rom is 131meg.

Its only 128, 131000k does not equal 131MB, and the scumm ds emulator was mentioned a few posts back, you had a link and a pic though..

3meg difference I'm sorry. Also, Tremble was talking about the wii scumm emulator.

No he said flashcart in reference to ds, also that 3 meg difference means going up a cart size.
