Steve is off at the regular Sony Pause press events gathering data; he'll have a bunch more information as soon as he's back (including hands-on reports from a bunch of the hottest upcoming titles like Motorstorm 2, Killzone 2, Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty, Blood Siren and Pixel Junk), but he just called to impart some tidbits of information for the rest of us.

* GFK have some big PlayStation 3 numbers for Australia, apparently just cracking the 300,000 mark. This doesn't include the sales from the recent Bravia LCD promotion - Sony's estimate is that there are more than 385,000 PlayStation 3's out there in the wild in Australia. A pretty beefy number especially when you consider that Nintendo just broke the Australian record with 500,000 units.
* PlayStation 3 owners will want to note that on August 4 the Platinum Editions of a bunch of games - including Resistance, Motorstorm, Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted - will be landing, bringing the price down on these to $49.95.
* For those still partying on the PlayStation 2, the new Singstar Amped is en route, offering a more rock-filled version of the massive singing experience (including songs by bands like Faith No More).
