http://images.ausgamers.com/games/screenshots//World of Warcraft/2008-03-20/TN_sunwell_1600.jpgThe kids at Blizzard have released a new trailer showing off some of the features in the new patch, featuring the "Fury of the Sunwell" content update.
Explore the mystical grounds of the new 5-person dungeon, Magisters' Terrace, where one of the Burning Crusade's most notorious villains is preparing to make his desperate last stand. Lead your raid group straight into the heart of the Sunwell Plateau to confront the most terrifying and deadly agents of the Burning Legion. But beware, for your enemies will not go down without a fight. Expect the demons to send in their most ferocious, brutal, and powerful officers. Your greatest challenge yet awaits.
You can read more about the update on the official site.

Yeah totally agree ^
If they had a server in which you didn't have to grind through all the bulls*** to get to the end game content I would soooo be in it!
Or even if they just increased all walk/fly/etc speeds by like 3-4x

To little to late.
Wow should go away and die in a dark corner somewhere.

Looking forward to the Lich King xpac more than this. BC was alright but it just didn't feel like you were part of the Warcraft universe and I sure as hell didn't care about the characters I was helping along the way.

Also, the grind from 1 - 60 is alot faster now it's just the s***ty grind thru the Outlands that really sucks.

Well, since this thread is so full of typical anti-wow anti-mmo hate, I just thought I'd post and say that looks really awesome and I'm really looking forward to 2.4. Sunwell Plateau looks like it'll be really cool to raid, with some pretty interesting bosses, and the whole dynamic city building thing going on with the Sunwell Isle looks pretty cool too. All in all, I'm excited, Big Kev style!

You of all people should understand! You played War 3 custom maps for hours! This is just a larger war 3 custom!

Blizzard's products ooze polish, even the trailers for a simple dungeon. I particularly liked the trailer for Zul'Aman.

the problem with wow is that it comes down to how much you play, and not how good you are at playing. war3, and other rts games at least are entirely skill based. the best players on wow are the players who spend their entire lives playing it, not the most skilled.

thats the problem fireblood

Theres still definitely an element of skill involved in endgame raiding. Sure, its different than the sort of skills you need to play an RTS or an FPS well, but to be able to do the higher end-game content you need to have an intimate knowledge of the fight, you need to have a really good 'battlefield' awareness (ie, you need to be aware not just of what you're doing, but whats going on in the whole fight), you need to know your role and you need to absolutely nail doing your job, you need to be flexible and adaptive and able to react to changing events at a moments notice and know what to do and where to be.

Thats what I really enjoy about raiding, everyone needs to be on the ball and you gotta come up with a game plan that is going to beat whatever the boss can throw you at you. Its not just the typical 'tank-and-spank' type fights you often encounter in the rest of WoW, where you just sit there and spam your spells or whatever until the thing you're attacking dies; fights like Kael'thas are totally epic in their scope, and when you beat them, its pretty awesome :)

Plus, I just really love the lore behind WoW, and instances like Black Temple and now Sunwell are very lore driven, so I wanna see all that content.

Thanks to DBM and BigWigs there is no skill in wow raiding

Press your 1 or 2 buttons and follow the text from the addon.

As long as the rest of the raid is semi literate and has ground enough gear you will win.

Sure, boss mods help, and on piss easy fights its probably enough to get you through, but anything even slightly more complicated than "Stand here, do DPS, move out of the fire" and boss mods aren't going to do the work for you.

Wrong, like any game, you have to play it a LOT to be good at it, no matter what anyone says.

Who's going to win a warcraft 3 duel, someone with 4 months game time or one with 4 hours?

You may hate wow or whatnot, but you have to admit blizzard can sure make kick ass trailers. Zul'Aman, The Black Temple, WotLK and now Sunwell Plateau.

Not only were the War3 custom maps an endless supply of fun, they didn't require one bit of MMO grinding so no idea what you're talking about.

WoW was actually fun getting from 1-60/70, because you're exploring and doing quests and killing s***ty alliance fags. If you play Korean MMORPG's you will know what actual grinding is. (creating a new character doesn't count)

and Khel, instances would be awesome if they didn't take so long to do, and not only that, only a few players get truly rewarded. Thats a problem because if you want to enjoy the next instance you need better equipment and to have better equipment you need to raid and raiding doesn't always get you your equipment so you need to raid more.

Do you see why thats a problem? and thats probably the reason why I played WoW till level 60 and didn't do much raiding.

if you want the best current mmorpg pvp experience play daoc - even after years and a dwindled population i believe it still offers the best

i'm hoping warhammer will continue the quality experience and there will be a population to sustain it - when it's released

still, that being said - i don't think pvp-wise there's still a fantastic mmorpg and i think it's a market oppurtunity for developers to take advantage of with new and/or fresh exciting genres

it'll be interesting to see what/if anything is in the pipeline within the next couple of years (or so, to be generous)

personally I don't believe that subsription based content for pve is something worthy of an ongoing cost. I understand expansions like this cost time and money to create but ultimately they still don't offer a varied gameplay - why is that? as a gaming community - with all this talk of new swank graphics and AI and such are we still living in a world of linear solution to mmorpg pve encounters?

Yep, totally agree! Thus why I don't play anymore!
Without the time sink, WoW would be awesome.

I dunno, the Illidan fight requires a bit of skill.

Doing Archimonde without grid would be absolutely horrible though.
