Celebrity game developer Cliffy B burst onto stage during Microsoft's GDC 08 keynote today to announce the expected Gears of War 2, an Xbox 360 exclusive sequel to Epic's hit shooter.

The epic saga of Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad continues exclusively on the Xbox 360 this fall with "Gears of War 2." This highly anticipated sequel to the 4.5 million-selling blockbuster "Gears of War" delves deeper into humanity's struggle for survival against the nightmarish

yeh, they showed some GoW2, although they just called it a "modified Unreal engine" - so I suspect it was just a tech demo rather than any real footage of the game. It looked pretty lush though.

is it just me, or are they creating sequels on a yearly basis these days? just pumping them out

when gears was launched it was launched as part one of a trilogy, all of which will be played out this generation.

same with mass effect. kind of like kill bill vol 1+2.

Well Gears of War came out in November 2006, and this one is due out in November 2008, so thats not yearly. Two years is a fair amount of time, considering most of the tech is already there and they'll be more familiar with it than they were when making the first one.
