There were some hints of this floating around in the last couple of days, but it's now been confirmed by an official announcement from EA - Red Alert 3 is coming:
In Red Alert 3, the desperate leadership of a doomed Soviet Union travels back in time to change history and restore the glory of Mother Russia. The time travel mission goes awry, creating an alternate timeline where technology has followed an entirely different evolution, a new superpower has been thrust on to the world stage, and World War III is raging. The Empire of the Rising Sun has risen in the East, making World War III a three-way struggle between the Soviets, the Allies, and the Empire with armies fielding wacky and wonderful weapons and technologies like Tesla coils, heavily armed War Blimps, teleportation, armored bears, intelligent dolphins, floating island fortresses, and transforming tanks.
More info in the press release. Some screenshots and concept art are available as well.

It will be interesting to see what they do about the cluster that is the Tiberian/RA continuity arc.

s***, now that means I have to play through all those damn annoying old campaigns again to refresh my memory on the storyline. :(

Idiots. There was no WWII in the red alert universe, so how could there be a WWIII?

Cool. Here's hoping for a Play-doh cannon and a bullfrog trebuchet.

I didn't play the most recent C&C but I thought C&C Generals was awesome. I always hear lots of complaints about "EA killing brand X", what specifically did they do to C&C?

I'm a little bit over the whole EA bashing also. I don't understand :S

I really enjoyed C&C3, some classic rts style play with decent multiplayer, I'm looking forward to RA3.

I also agree about the EA bashing. People just seem to do it because everyone else does, regardless of the quality of the games they produce.

C&C3 was a lot better than C&C2 or RA2. The original C&C is still the best though.

I enjoyed all of the RA's , i thought the TF2/Comical style they went with RA2 was refreshing , a less serious CnC , which made the 2 products different. CnC3 was dope, the balance issues sucked a bit for MP, but they patched it well.

C&C3 was awesome ... except the constant hacks being used.

C&C3 would have been more awesome if that s***ty mothership moved faster than a 100 year old turtle lugging a treasure chest full of fat loot on its back. That son of a bitch was enough to destroy half the map if it ever made it to the thing you wanted to shoot. It would either take so long to get there the battle was over and the game was won by the time it finally did arrive or it would get shot the hell down by a couple of little SAM sites before it even got anywhere near being able to fire on anything.

I know MP has a huge impact on games nowdays, but i really think most games are now judged by the MP content. C&C is a SP game primarily. MP is a bonus imho. They didn't goto the trouble of making FMV cut scenes for the MP aspect. It's about the C&C universe, the storyline.
This argument also stands for plenty of other games people whine about.

I really think sequels are made for the fanboys. If you are a fan , you will like the game as intended. If not, you think you are god's gift to videogame reviews.
/endrant maybe, i dunno

I quite enjoyed C&C3 SP - pissed all over the joke that was C&C2, both in quality and interest value.

Felt more like the first game (which is the one that matters)

The only SP games I've ever finished are need for speed underground, crysis and the original quake. I start playing them, get bored around the 4th time of running about blindly in some f***** warehouse bashing crates with my crowbar/shooting monsters around every corner (predictable). I pretty much only buy games for their MP side, with the C&C series I just play the skirmish mode to pwn some AI.

Yeah, I really liked C&C3 as well, great single player campaign and it really felt like oldschool C&C to me. While Generals was cool, and I liked it, it never really felt like C&C to me, but C&C3 did. RA3 should be sweet if it goes in the same direction :)

on a regular what?!?! basis? or quarter pounder?

loved c&c sp and mp, more or less skipped over it's sequels due to quake, loved red alert and red alert 2, generals didn't grab me nor did c&c3

I'd settle for higher res, lots of new maps, more sides and units in a red alert 3, with greater distinction between the sides in terms of units

Generals was bulls***, whoever built those super aurora bombers the quickest (in the expansion) won. I was into red alert, but my favourite RTS to date is Company of Heroes.

cnc3 was s***.

I see a lot of people saying C&C3 was s***, but with the exception of a slow mothership complaint, nobody seems to be offering any further reasoning behind their opinion.

If the mothership could zoom around the map at speed, you may aswell not play. It destroys anything it fires at and their relatives.

i actually don't think c&c3 was that bad, it just wasn't worth the effort. there was nothing new there except retarded looking new vehicles and s***.
