Having sat through the grueling video presentation of this event (host, Jay Moore, really sucked balls), it was difficult to not want to see it in a bigger light. After all, the AIAS Awards are considered the "Oscars for the games industry", yet what was being shown here was anything but. That said, however, poor presentation (and audience reception) should not get in the way of the honoured on the night which saw the likes of BioShock (with 12 nominations!), Assassin's Creed, Rock Band, Call of Duty 4 and Super Mario Galaxy stealing the spotlight among a host of other great (and not so great) games in a myriad of different award categories. Five nominees were up for the coveted overall GOTY award alongside CoD4 including Super Mario Galaxy, BioShock, Rock Band and The Orange Box. The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Sony's Ken Kuturagi for his work on building the PlayStation name into one of the strongest the industry has ever seen, while Blizzard's Mike Morhaime was the Hall of Fame Inductee.
