An even cursory glance will explain why Orange Box didn't rate in there. I haven't read it until now; I haven't played any of those games either but it seems like a relatively safe bet that most of those games would be in there; all of them are pretty massive titles for 2007

I think its a bit much to put a game with as many obvious flaws as assassin's creed in the top ten. It was a pretty cool game in many ways but there is no way it was worthy of that spot. Most of those seem pretty reasonable though.

The only thing outstanding about TF2 is the online experience.

No story, no atmosphere, no huge maps or spaces to explore...

Like the article's conclusion admits, not everyone is going to agree with our picks but we did put a bit of thought into it. Feel free to share your own.

I rate The Orange Box high as a package, but for me TF2 aint all that. That might upset a few people cause I know it has a big following here, but different strokes hey.

im playing metroid now, and its EXCELLENT

I played metroid 3 and it was good, but rather... blah. Nothing like when I first put Metroid into my gamecube. Mabye its because im starting to stop playing games like I used to. The only real game I play anymore is Guitar Hero 3 and some TF2, although I havnt touched that in almost a week.

Wii should be destroyed.

Mario is easily GOTY but the polished design of TF2 deserved a special mention imo.

Obvious flaws? Or more like, things you consider flaws cos you were s*** at it? I'm not saying I thought it was perfect, it did get a bit repetitive, but really it was a freaking awesome game overall.

Pfft, TF2 isn't on the list.

It so should be on the list, maybe in place of CoD4.

yeah good list agree with most though I reckon Uncharted should be higher up than Assassin's Creed, sure its not anything revolutionary, but the presentation of that game is so f***ing slick and its pure fun, just like Mario.

Have to admit that I havent played any of the other games in the top 10 except mario, well ive played guitar hero 2 and from what ive seen 3 is pretty much the same, how much can the gameplay realy change, you press buttons in time with the music.

Saying that though mario galaxy is awesome. You can pick it up and play a few levels or play for hours if you want.

I dont have time these days to play a FPS game long enough to be able to play online and not die in 2 seconds.

Gotta get metroid, everyone keeps sating it is good.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars as the #1 PC game is a bit much though... It shouldn't even be in the top 5.

I'm only really interested in multiplayer FPS PC games. I don't mind a bit of RTS action now and again and on consoles I really only get into GTA and Pro Evo.

The only two FPS games I played last year for more than 5 minutes were ETQW (beta) and TF2. I enjoyed ETQW sooooo much more than TF2 its not even funny! I gave TF2 so much of a chance to grab me and I just couldn't get into it.

ETQW on the other hand , I played the beta non-stop until I couldn't stomach that level any more. I just didn't have the time to get into the full game so I'm still waiting.

Nice list guys. You won't please everyone but I reckon even if only by reputation those games all deserved to make the cut.

SMG is just astonishing. I know some of you are thinking 'its f***ing Mario ffs!' but it really is that good. You can just tell that every planet in every galaxy has been really carefully polished and thought through.

Metroid is also fantastic, the only drawback for me is that I was only a third of the way through it when I got mario and now its a bit of a neglected red headed step child!

Remember that category isn't every game on PC in 07, it's PC exclusives. The likes of the orange box, cod 4, bioshock etc don't rate in there because they were multi-platform launches.

Not to take anything away from Quake Wars however, IMO it's a well polished title with some of the best ongoing developer support around. If I didn't have to keep looking forward for games to review, ETQW is the one I'd still be playing.

I thought TF2 was much better then ET:QW. I wasn't a fan of ET. I give em credit for good support though. TF2 has had pretty average support.

ET:QW was terrible. The whole game is a flop IMO. Pretty surprised that such an average game made the top 10.

It didn't make the top 10. Whatever happened to reading before posting.

EDIT: Which I think raises an interesting point. That none of our top ten picks were PC exclusive titles.

man, am i the only person who thought bioshock was really s***ty? i mean it looks cool, but it's so damn repetitive and boring =/

tf2 ftw. cod4 had an epic single player campaign but i'm not a huge fan of the mp.

If your talking about an addictive, challanging game that keeps you playing with its simplicity then DJ Max Portable 2 would of been 1 of my choices. However I doubt many people here have heard of it.

+1. They could ripoff the et:qw gameplay for T3 I suppose :/

TF2 feels like a console 3D shooter to me.. it feels and plays nothing like Quake at all, which was the soul of Team Fortress. No soul.. no play..

COD4 MP has been fun online for the last couple of days. gotta love that grossly overpowered P90 :) Gonna give the singleplayer a go a bit later on I reckon

again - great game.

needs more oldskooler quakers who can see past the CS image.
