Gaming site 1up caught Namco's spilling beans today to find out that Star Wars Characters Darth Vader and Yoda will be among the playable fighters in the upcoming Soul Calibur 4. An odd match perhaps, but then the last title in the series did feature Spawn, Link and Heihachi on it's various platforms. Check out some in-game screenshots here on AusGamers.

f*** those visuals look nice. Although most fighting games get boring extremely quick though which sucks.

Yeah, if the controls are anything like MK:Armageddon, it's going to suck.

Why the f*** would it be like MK: Armageddon, its not an MK game, its Soul Calibur, I'm guessing the controls will be like every other Soul Calibur game!

Hey, that's what I said about MKA, but sure enough I sat down to play it, expecting it to be like every other MK game, and my reaction was "what the f*** is this!?"
A lot of the good stuff from SoulBlade disappeared in SoulCalibur II :/

Umm in a lot of those shots you can see they are swinging the lightsaber, but the lightsaber appears as a straight bar | instead of how it looks in real life... \__/

Oh no, the handle is straight! Never mind the fact that it'll cut you clean in half, I'm sure the opponent will be concentrating on the incorrect construction of their opponents weapon of choice.

At least it's not Masters of Teras Kasi 2!

Looks sweet though :D

what the f***, who said anything about construction of the hilt? I'm talking about the realism of the graphics in the game - which everyone in this thread is raving about - when clearly the people who have made this game do not pay attention to the way things are, as the makers of the Star Wars film, and the Jedi Knight games did. Both of which use the same optical physics for the blade...

so your saying it should have a green blur on yoda's saber instead of a blue one?

How ironic, I always thought I was watching a videogame when I saw the abortion that was 'Attack of the Clones'.

Namco announced its guest stars for IV at tonight's event -- Darth Vader for the PlayStation 3 version and Master Yoda for the Xbox 360 version.

Even Namco thinks Sony is the dark side!

I want this game NOW. Not really because of the Star Wars characters, I find that kinda silly actually, but man it looked sexy in that announcement video, and I've been hankering for some more Soul Calibur action for years now (never got my hands on a copy of number 3 cos I didn't have a ps2 at the time). Bring on the Cervantes cheese.

SC3 was a bit of a let down compared to the previous ones, you didn't miss much.
