Sony have released some details of the upcoming titles for the various PlayStation platforms. Obviously the PlayStation 3 is their hot new puppy:

Key first-party PS3 titles unveiled and demonstrated included: Warhawk(TM), Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, SOCOM: Confrontation, Heavenly Sword(TM), Ratchet & Clank(R) Future: Tools of Destruction(TM), Folklore(TM), THE EYE OF JUDGMENT(TM) and SingStar(TM). Several of these titles were recently highlighted in Electronic Gaming Monthly's June issue as "difference makers" for PS3 in 2007, denoting must-have titles for gamers. In addition, the buzz of March's Game Developers Conference, LittleBigPlanet(TM), was also on hand, giving attendees a chance to explore this unique game, where players actually create and share their own 3D gameplay levels.

There's also some information about upcoming PSP titles.

* Wii - 360K
* PlayStation 2 - 194K
* PlayStation Portable - 183K
* Xbox 360 - 174K
* Game Boy Advance - 84K
* PLAYSTATION 3 - 82K
* GameCube - 13K

With the PlayStation 3 languishing so far behind - well, everything else - I'm sure Sony are hoping that these new titles are going to pick up the sales pace a little bit.

MGS was delayed until next year I believe. Not officially though, but it's a pretty safe bet at this point.

As expensive as the PS3 is, I wouldn't mind so much buying it at it's current price if there was a better library of games or if I at least knew there was many titles in it's near future that interested me. One benefit to getting it now would be that it would more than likely be easier to mod down the track rather than waiting for revised models, another would be now that I just picked up a 42" 1080p LCD so it'd be cool to run some bluray movies on it. Hopefully this years E3 will give us something to go on. It'd be nice if it could swing some titles that use the unreal3 engine. The rubber duck game you can buy in the online store is orsm but not worth paying 1000 to be able to play.

Gamecube stuff isn't being made anymore, people are buying wiis and using those to play gc stuff instead. Interesting that GBAs are still selling better than ps3s.

I'm guessing why sony went with the bluray is more about the DVD format war rather than gaming.

They have the game MotorStorm on display at JB in the city. Man are the PS3 graphics insane. It helps that it was hooked up to a nice LCD but still it made me want to get one. I reckon I'd buy one at about $650-700
