Topic: Counter-Strike: Source Dynamic Weapons Pricing!

Valve have announced the Counter-Strike Weapons Market, a system which will dynamically change the cost of weapons and items based on how many people are buying them:
Starting on October 11th, the prices of weapons and equipment in Counter-Strike: Source will be updated each week based on the global market demand for each item. As more people purchase a certain weapon, the price for that weapon will rise and other weapons will become less expensive.
Interesting change; it will no doubt cause a lot of division in the community, but I have to say it's nice to finally see something slightly fresher appearing in CS: Source.

so what the m4 and ak will now eventually get more expensive than an awp, so people will stop buying them and the price will the drop to like $5? Good times

Current weapon prices:

It seems they counted armour in the calculations (currently $1104 and rising) which seems a little stupid?

Why is including armour stupid, it seems like a good idea to me. It isn't provided for free by default so it's something you have to spend your money on that fluctuates with weapon prices and grenades.

So now everyone is gonna have to sit around with a calculator at the start of the round for a minute to figure out what they can afford heh. I wonder if the round start delay is going to be any longer. Actually I think I have misunderstood this. I thought it was map based... so this is a global thing so every server is gonna be the same... hrm interesting.

Gun... check
Armour... check
Grenades... check
Ammo... sorry you are $1 short no ammo for you!

But "everyone" buys armour so steadily making it cost more is silly because it is the one thing everyone will consistantly buy.

All this will do is make it harder for players struggling to keep up due to their team being destroyed go even further into hock and drive that team under the thumb of their enemies even further.

In practice this will make comebacks for a team on the losing end even harder, dependant on just how expensive the armour becomes of course, but as the most bought thing in the game I am thinking it will gets really costly, really fast.

No s***, who said it is?

That's right. To lower the price, there will have to be periods where the armour isn't bought much, meaning more frequent, random instant-death rounds from stray bullets hitting poor, unvested players.

Ah whatever, who cares, it is cs.

Haha, this is awesome! I hope Valve don't tweak it at all, just so we can see how far it'll spiral out of control. :-D

haha this is indeed awesome.

Once I get some internet (well real internet) I am going to reinstall HL2 and update CS:S and have a bash on the euro servers, I'll pwn them!!!!!

I rekon it'll be fun and it will mix up the weapons people chose, instead of the bog standard, deagle + m4 or ak combo.

UMP and TMP 4 lyfe!

I thought I'd give CSS a go. I spent two days trying to get Steam to load, between the vanishing system tray icon, "Searching for Games" running for hours on end, and updates that wouldn't load without repeated pausing/unpausing. I finally got into the game yesterday, and it hardlocked the computer at the end of each round. I did manage to get it working on another computer. I can see why people are pissed off that Valve are working on tweaking an old, stable money system when their delivery engine and stability is so s***.

So I got on a server, and someone else joined and played horribly oscillating music through their voicecom. Of course, unlike earlier versions of CS you can't mute individual players.
So I went to another server, where I was TK'ed the first round (near the spawn - the enemy hadn't reached us yet). I was then verbally abused for selecting the slay punishment from the TK punishment menu.
So I went to another server, where one of the players had found a hiding space from which he couldn't be shot. With everyone else dead, I wandered around the map (which had no time limit) looking for them while they typed abuse and laughter. Finally they emerged when I posted their Steam ID number. The next round I was verbally abused for not killing myself to end the round.

Now I remember why I only play at LANs, and only use a non-Steam copy.

You actually can mute people, it takes 2-3 clicks. And why the f*** bother with FF servers, seriously.

Because the only way these games are worth playing is with FF on? I get so damn bored playing without FF it's not even funny.

Dunno why you'd care what people do when you TK punish them. They did you wrong, end of story. If they apologise, good on them and maybe you can not punish them, but most people don't and have to cop the consequences. Just ignore retards that complain about getting punished. Ignore them completeeeeeeely.

Why would you care!

If you're going to play CS you just have to accept some level of idiot behaviour. Certainly a lot higher than in other games. But if for some reason you get enjoyment out of playing it, just ignore the idiot attention whores that are just trying to be jerks.

He probably tried to mute someone with funny characters in their name and failed.

voice_enable 0 in autoexec anyway.

I was referring to the people on the FF servers, usually 90% team killers.

there should be a option to sell weapons that you may pick up on the map

Nice idea. Auto-sell the primary weapon your are holding if you purchase another.

I think this is a great idea.

No one here seems to realise that this won't be as bad as they make it sound. Obviously, the more people who buy things like M4's and AK's will make the price rise so high that no one will be able to afford it, which will make the price come back down.

The inclusion of armour is great, because it applies to everyone and will make people think a f***load more about their style of gameplay. Again, the prices will fluctuate.

post counterstrike source in a thread title and look at the randoms that flock.

i think the only thing that they really should include is a vote kick

2/3's to kick someone. that way, people who are obviously hacking (instant head shot x 4 when 4 people walk around 2 seperate corners) and people that just sit in the game being arseholes (using exploited positions, tking as many of there team as possible etc. ) get kicked.

So I would get punished if you're on 1 health and I accidently put one bullet into you?

What if Joe TK's 99% of your health and I accidently shoot you once... who gets the punishment then O.o

And with CS I imagine every 12 year old fag would select to punish.

Decent admin mods kick/ban you if you team-hurt too much, even if you don't actually kill anyone.

Therefore, a one-off incident isn't something to cry over.
