An anonymous user writes to let us know that Sony have announced (can't link directly to the lame Flash site, but if you click on News you'll see it) that the PlayStation 3 release date in Australia and (less importantly) Europe has been pushed back: Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today announced that it would revise the launch date of its PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system in the PAL territories of Europe, Russia, Middle East, Africa and Australasia from 17th November 2006, as previously announced to March 2007.They've also confirmed that the release date for the US and Japan is unchanged. Production delays are cited as the reason for the delay. Given the plentiful availability of the Xbox 360 and the release of some big new titles (Dead Rising!) and the still-on-track Wii, it seems like this holiday season is going to be a Sony-free zone. |

Why is it, that if a system is going to release near christmas, PAL regions always have to wait until March of the next year.
THEN we get the speel of "we can't launch yet due to lack of hardware and software" Gay. If the Nintendo Wii can still launch oct/nov, it'll have a good 6-8month start on the PS3.... interesting... |

With just how unimpressed, apathetic and unphysched gamers are about the ps3 i'm not suprised they are pushing it back... oh, and they've confirmed that the el-cheap-o version will come with "HDMI Cable not included"

Why is it, that if a system is going to release near christmas, PAL regions always have to wait until March of the next year.Because PAL regions are all over the place and encompass heaps of different geographical areas and dozens of languages. Whereas the US and Japan are massive markets and alot simpler to distribute to and support in. |

With just how unimpressed, apathetic and unphysched gamers are about the ps3MGS4, Devil May Cry 4, FFXII, Heavenly Sword, Resistance (insomniac games), Lair (A dogfighter by the guys behind R-type and the gamecube's rogue squadrons and stuff... with dragons) and most every next-gen game isn't second or first-party Microsoft on better hardware -- as well as most probably the ongoing creation of exclusive titles by those that have been closest to sony (capcom, motherf***ing ATLUS, square-enix, konami). Yep, us Go home. last edited by Hashy at 22:58:48 06/Sep/06 |

PS3 will probably have the best selection of single player titles. That's what they've been best at with all of their consoles so far, and I don't see them changing their model.

i know for me that besides the huge expensive price, its almost the exact same god damn design as the ps2. hell the controler hasn't changes since the ps1 came out and that was a long ass time ago. if they changed the controller and mabye the shell of it i'd be a lot more receptive of it. i just think why get a ps3 for $800+ without games, when i could buy a Wii for apparantly around $400 and get metroid prime 3 and zelda: twilight princess all at once.

Unless Kojima and Atlus and Ueda's SoTC team and Capcom and Level-5 and Squeenix and Namco and Tales-Namco and all the other developers that've made f***ing fantastic exclusive titles for the Playstation in the past all jump ship for some f***ing reason (which is very unlikely, as much as your select group of friends who supposedly represent gamers everywhere are "disillusioned" and all that with the PS3.)
You people are really confusing me. Analog, rumble, motion sensing and wireless were all around way before Nintendo "innovated" by bringing some of them to the console market. Rumble won't even be on the PS3 controller because it's mostly a s***ty gimmick that's outlasted its welcome that I think most of the gaming world will be happy to do without. The playstation could be called the "blintendo" and have a greazy italian plumber-turned-carpenter as a mascot for all I care, it wouldn't stop them from doing what they do best. GOOD f***ING GAME SONY am i right? I'm a nintendo fan, but suddenly the wii has made being a insensical fanboy hip. Also Wetwired has s*** tastes in games. Not because he insulted the PS3's exclusive lineup, but because he just does. |

No they won't have it because unlike Nintendo and Microsoft they refused to use it again after a lawsuit with the patent owners of rumble technology who sued their arse off for patent infringement. Also Wetwired has s*** tastes in games. Not because he insulted the PS3's exclusive lineup, but because he just does. No, I just don't like japanese bulls*** games with 2 hours of FMV inbetween 5 minutes of actual gameplay, if that's what you like then I'm sure they'll fill up that 50Gb blue ray disc with badly dubbed CGI for you to masturbate over. And if you haven't noticed capcom seems to be pretty happy pumping out kickarse titles on the 360, which I could A) play now on the 360 or B) wait 6 months to play the same game on the PS3. Sony has a lot of ground to catch up and respect to re-earn, just because you've still got your head up their arse doesn't mean everyone else is hanging around to wait for the next s*** to squeeze out. If it comes out and their s*** smells nice, I'll take some, but as it stands now, much like you and girls, I'm not interested. |

Yep, us gamers xbox360 owners sure are unimpressed, apathetic and unpsyched about the Gaystation 3. Hurrr.I don't own a 360, sorry to spoil your slurr, and i was probably a PS1 owner and fan before you even knew what one was (imported a Jap model just after release). From what i've been reading it's not just the PS3 that's over hyped, but initial comments on blu-ray drives have been a bit negative, suggesting that despite the hype and demo disks, there's not a noticeable improvement in quality, and it will be a hard sell to convert people over. So was it really worth delaying the PS3 for? |

I don't own a 360, sorry to spoil your slurr,But you're buying one right? Right? I hear they're pretty cool. Cheaper than the sony claymation3 lol So was it really worth delaying the PS3 for?Probably not, though they're obviously hoping the PS3 will help piggyback it above HD-DVD, and also ps3 games will come on blu-ray, Xbox360 games won't come on hd-dvd. Wait, what does this have to do with gamers everywhere being disenfranchised, disimbogulated and dishwashered with the ps3 everywhere, worldwide!? (imported a Jap model just after release). My friend did this too |

No they won't have it because unlike Nintendo and Microsoft they refused to use it again after a lawsuit with the patent owners of rumble technology who sued their arse off for patent infringement.Sony don't care anymore, and it's hard to blame them. Oh snap Lara Croft, you just ran into a wall and I felt 3 seconds of intense, rapid, sharp movement in my hands - I can really sympathise! I mean, what better simulates the effect of firing a gun, or falling off a cliff, or driving over a cop, or collecting a coin than the same exact 3 seconds of vibration in the hands region? If you have any examples of rumble being used to good effect and not just the archaic remenants of a feature implemeneted into the occassional n64 game in order to sell $40 rumble packs and AAA batteries to the masses I'd love to hear them. I hear the xbox360 has two, independant motors. Xbox: Leading the way for useless gimmicks that have no impact on gameplay or immersion or anything much and that no-one really cares about anymore™ FYI Wetwired I masturbate over poorly dubbed CGI and also I am gay (not interested in girls much like you in the playstation 3 you rascal you) and buying an xbox360 was the executive choice of a lifetime that will guarantee you the creme-de-le-creme of next generation gaming. Trog: All that article tells me is that blu-ray is only currently planned to have a tansfer rate of just over half of the Xbox360 (if they upgraded the drive to 4x it'd outclass the 360). It's yet to be seen exactly what happens with load times - with the 360 supposedly compressing the crap out of everything. As far as I can gather an xbox blogger is shocked and horrified that sony is packaging hard-drives with the PS3. What's with that? Also, it's disputing outrageous stuff regarding spewed out of the mouth of a ubisoft employee. |

ill buy a ps3 just so that i can get the exclusive titles that will only come out on it, which funnily enough is the same reason i bought an xbox360. i dont care about release titles, and i especially dont care about the hardware inside them, i care soley on the odd 1 out of 20 games thats decent and worth buying. which brings me to why if i could i choose 1 console to buy, i would of waited till the nintendo Wii came out. but i dont have to choose 1, i can have them all.

Actually I didn't pay for my 360, nor would I have for at least a year or 2 after the price came down and there was more games that I was interested in. But now that I do have one I'm more than happy with it, along with a heap of upcoming games that look great. fight night 3 is brillant, and also coming to PS3 when it arrives. Rockstar Table Tennis is also good fun. Both of which use rumble to hint to the player gameplay mechanics, in table tennis if you're aiming too far off the table before hitting, it will warn you with the rumble to give you a split second to correct yourself. Fight Night 3 uses it for big hits when you're getting close to being taken down, again warning you to take it easy and give you a chance to correct before it's too late.
There is widespread sceptisim of the PS3 and a general unhappiness with sony's actions of late. You may be excited about it, but most people in the industry are not, they're waiting to see sony come good with their promises. http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3755&Itemid=2 http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3741&Itemid=46 http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601101&sid=aPJHkWNLsELs&refer=japan |

Check the trailers people, Assassins Creed (looks unreal, as in the game itself seems like it would have to have good game play), that John woo one, looks like Max Payne except better. Hundreds of rad titles. I'm hanging out for one. Very glad I held out and didn't buy a 360. |

There's only one promise SONY has to keep for everything to be right, and they made that promise three and a half years ago. Sony electronics has to Stop curtailing to SONY Music.
From what i've been reading they haven't done that, but it's all they have to do. |

Hundreds of rad titles. I'm hanging out for one. Very glad I held out and didn't buy a 360. the new zelda is actually alot darker then the previous titles, and even still those kiddy games are known to sell hugely on there fun factor alone, which i guess is what most people forget about playing video games, its all well and good to have a game that looks great with a mature storyline and setting, but it needs good gameplay thats easy to understand so you can get into the story instead of f***ing around trying to work out how to play, and it also needs to be enjoyable to play. a good example of this theory is with the upcomming title for 360 dead rising, it has a mature setting but it also has an easy control system. its something you can pick up play around with, get into the storyline if you want to, or just have a good laugh at all the stuff you can do. its primarily a combination of kiddy gamestyle with a horror setting. ubisoft a company that is well known for making great titles such as the splinter cell games and ghost recon games are making Assassins Creed *which has been confirmed to also be comming on on the 360*. they also have 7 titles in the Wii release launch. to me this shows that nintendo has sparked interest with companys that want to make good interesting and different games, companys that want to think outside of the norm and think "next gen". and for nintendo to achieve that from these kind of companys deserves my support. you can say what you want about kiddy games, but the fact is they sell because they are fun and enjoyable to play, which is exactly what gameing is all about. and the only "mature titles" that are worth buying take that fun and enjoyable feeling that is found in "kiddy" games and puts a darker more adult cover over them. last edited by groydis at 15:22:09 07/Sep/06 |

it will warn you with the rumble to give you a split second to correct yourself.is this unacheivable through audio or visual cues? No. I particularly like it for gun recoil.I don't see how an annoying buzzing sensation has anything to do with recoil. I really don't care about rumble one way or the other, but it's brought up in console arguements way too often for what it is. Who cares. words words wordsI just don't see how an initial shortage of units because they can't get the hardware they need is somehow spelling doom for the console as a whole. I'm sorry, I don't. I also don't see how those 3 articles have anything to do with the industry or any kinds of "promises" that sony is unlikely to come through on. The success of the console rides on its developers and its uptake (primarily in asia, to be honest). Right now it still has the most varied developer support and the shortage of consoles which no-one knows how long will take to solve is the only threat. 3 months is the norm for most Sony games to make it from NTSC to PAL anyway. clearly it will go the way of sega Edit: OH BOY A KIDDY GAME ARGUEMENT to me this shows that nintendo has sparked interest with companys that want to make good interesting and different games, companys that want to think outside of the norm and think "next gen". and for nintendo to achieve that from these kind of companys deserves my support.Nintendo has been doing this to an extent since the f***ing nintendo 64, and particularly with the gamecube/DS. It's taken the wiimote for people to rise out of their seats, take notice, and stop calling "kiddy" at every turn. Welcome to the fold. last edited by Hashy at 15:23:15 07/Sep/06 |

MGS4Cool Devil May Cry 4gay FFXIIboring Heavenly Swordwhat Resistancewhat (insomniac games)who Lairwhat (A dogfighter by the guys behind R-type...Cool, but so what? But the reason I have never heard of these games is because I am a trendwhore xbox360 owner, who is also uncultured with a bad taste in games (I have also been told I am not leet). I am sure you could rattle off at least another 20 games none of us have heard of due to our rose tinted xbox360 branded glasses hashy, but none of us could care less. At the moment the only games I care about are mass effect, bioshock, fifa 2007 and gta4, all of which will be on the 360. last edited by fpot at 15:58:27 07/Sep/06 |

fifa 2007 will rock like fifa 2005 rocked.
But to be honest I have never played a winning eleven game... I am keen to though. One question about that game though; does it have all the player licenses? It would just be gay to play as real madrid and have #9 Rinaldo or something gay like that. |

yes, the new zelda is a lot more serious and darker and is aimed at older people than what wind waker was. after all the games ive seen coming out for ps3, only Assassin's Creed impresses me. yes it does look great and i would love to play it and i will. know why? because its no longer a ps3 only game. its also coming to the 360 and PC. suddenly the only ps3 game that i wanted to play isn't exclusive anymore.
now im not a nintendo fanboy as you may think. i dont even play any consoles except for my ps2 anymore. however i just plain dont like the 360 or the ps3 at all. graphics aren't everything in a game. if i want totaly swish graphics ill just boot up one of the latest pc games. what makes me so interested in the wii is how you will control the games. what nintendo are doing will either fail miserbly, or be one of the biggest hits to the console world since prolly the snes or ps1. EDIT - that was perhaps the best ytmnd links ive ever seen. what a histerical crack up. last edited by DM at 17:00:21 07/Sep/06 |

because I've played nearly all of them and know people of incredibly similar taste with the rest
n3 was ok from what i've played... far from a "train wreck".You didn't play it much. cause hashy is a fanboy that wont admit to it.Is it a fanboy when I like every platform for one reason or another but one? the main point is: we're playing and enjoying current-gen now, and you're waiting months on end for what is going to be, in the end, the same product with mostly the same games and a blu ray player. oh, and the SONY name, which incidentally i think is most important to a lot of ps3 loyalists. You're mistaken. It's the games and nothing else I care about. last edited by Hashy at 17:39:13 07/Sep/06 |

Don't let wetwired or fpot see you interested in some good games MM. Quick, act excited in the next Madden installment and start rallying for sony's downfall.

i never liked ea's sport games untill i was forced to play some stupid soccor comp at work around the time the world cup was on, after playing it i was extremely impressed, the games generally suck when playing by yourself but a few mates couple of beers and some pizza make a great night in.
then fight night 3 came out and i bought it just to see if it was as pretty as i thought it would be then originaly was going to return it to eb in a week, but instead i loved playing it and kept it. |

Lair (A dogfighter by the guys behind R-type and the gamecube's rogue squadrons and stuff... with dragons)Irem are the original designers of R-Type. Factor 5 ported R-Type to the Amiga for Rainbow Arts. Maybe if you'd actually played R-Type instead of simply reading about how cool or uncool every game is from the IGN boards, you'd know that. |

I've completed R-type I and II and own DX on the GBC. I'm sorry for not remembering 10 years back who developed it, but I read somewhere that factor 5 was involved and assumed it was them.
But hey, you're still way more awesome than I will ever be. |

But hey, you're still way more awesome than I will ever be.Damn straight, I didn't try to argue my opinions as gospel to other people and back them up with misinformation. The fact you don't respect the opinions of others is what makes people argue with you, not to mention anyone possibly excited by PS3 on these forums is drowned out by you spewing your s***. |

Please note that it all started with this:
With just how unimpressed, apathetic and unphysched gamers are about the ps3 i'm not suprised they are pushing it backI was simply defending the fact that alot people still are and nats has no real right to speak for gamers everywhere. It was biting and sarcastic, yeah, but I don't see how mislabling factor's involvement in Rtype is going to have any bearing on what I was trying to say. You sure slammed down my house of cards though, ho boy, that one bit that you corrected me on? It was the very base of my arguement. Flatout guessing that I've never played r-type and accusing me of reading s*** like the IGN boards was just the polish on the stake you drove through my heart with your post. Thanks for the thread guys. |

I don't see why you cling on so hard to the R-Type point. It simply shows how easy you are to wind up, and that instead of getting caught up in arguments with people on an internet gaming forum of all places, maybe you should do something more enjoyable and worthy of time.

I don't see why you cling on so hard to the R-Type point. It was your only point, my friend. You're grasping at straws if you're honestly claming you were just trying to wind me up with your post. Tael is a f***** cut thread here 8<------------------------------- |

factor 5 are great at doing crazy graphics. remember rogue leader was a launch title on cube, and still holds up with the best of this current/near past gen. can't wait to see what they do with ps3 even though I doubt I'll own one.

I think for the such high price, not many of us will own one. On the other hand, this will also let people save for longer to actually buy one.
Some may hold off until march to get one, some may infact get wii360 combo's. Personally i think if Nintendo can actually do a PAL launch this year its going to earn them alot of respect and probably alot of sales. |

Here's an article written just prior to the launch of the Playstation 2, the parallels between this and last generation are pretty scary.
Don't buy that PlayStationyup... |
