All AusGamers hosted sites are offline until further notice while we try to resolve some issues. Apologies for the inconvenience.

If you need your site back urgently, please contact us with an explanation why and we'll see what we can do.

trog.qgl.org isn't an ausgamers hosted site

anyway, he did move the homedir for his own site with the rest as well, but I restored it a little while later along with a few others

Nope, only under the conditions already outlined by trog - and even then possibly only temporarily

Sorry but we weren't able to provide fair warning - we were informed by our ISP on thursday that if they received another complaint that one of our hosted sites was hosting bank account phishing pages, that the server would be turned off and removed from the network. Since we host thousands of sites and trawling through them all to find remotely exploitable code isn't feasible, the only way we could meet the expectations of our ISP and avoid having the server turned off and removed, was to immediately disable all hosted sites. The best we could reasonably do to notify people of this was post on our websites, which is what trog immediately did.

In fairness to our ISP (Comindico, now known as SOUL), I should also mention that this has happened several times in the past and they've given us plenty of warnings and leeway - and they're probably at the least, partially legally accountable for content that is being served from our servers.

If having your site up is important, it would probably be best to actually find professional hosting - it's been common knowledge for years now that the free hosting provided by ausgamers/qgl is given little importance in terms of maintenance and uptime - it's always been a 'here it is as it is, take it or leave it' type deal. Also, as mentioned or alluded to earlier in this post, even the sites we re-enable now may only be able to remain up for a short time.

Astro, the data hasn't been lost, we just moved all the hosted dirs to another location on the hard disk so the webserver can't find the pages - so sing out if you need access to your data.

lt.sniper: sure thing, just visit this page, choose hosting support and enter your request:
