Ubisoft have announced the first title for the upcoming Nintendo Revolution console - Red Steel:
Ubisoft, one of the world's largest video game publishers, announce the development of Red Steel™, an exclusive first-person action title for the Nintendo Revolution (working name of the new Nintendo platform). Red Steel is set in modern-day Japan. Players will master both the ancient art of the katana and the sophisticated technology of modern firearms taking advantage of the emotion and immersive gameplay possible only with the Revolution's remarkable controller.
A few screenshots were leaked yesterday from an exclusive magazine article from some random gaming rag, which from the comments looked pretty good.

Assuming the Revolution control is good, I think the idea of having a gun and a sword is pretty sweet.

I was reading somewhere that at the start of the game you're all about just blowing s*** up - you use machine guns and huge arse weapons where you just spray bullets everywhere. Then later on in the game as you've gotten used to the control scheme you'll be more sneaky and accurate and have more James Bond type of weapons where you'll have to take people down with stealth and accuracy.

Sounds good to me...if it works.

Yeh, I look forward to seeing how the control works out with the sword. Aside from some long lost game that I can't remember back on the Commodore I can't remember any games I've ever played that have had good sword controls. If the Revo controller is responsive and accurate it could lead to some badass katana fighting stylez!

Was that game you're thinking of, Barbarian, trog? First one was like a Streetfighter style game and the sequel was more of an action type one being able to walk around levels.

I just hope the sword implementation won't be as lame and crappy as that samurai arcade game where you waved a hilt around like a madman... not that i'd end up getting revolution anyway...

speaking of sword games, did anyone play die by the sword years and years ago? god that was a horrible control mechanism...

Sounds like Blade.

I didn't mind the Sword/Blade controlls in Tenshodo (If thats the Ninja Game I'm thinking of that was on PS)

Quite the opposite, it was the best sword control mechanism I've ever f***ing used.

Supposedly the angle you hold the controller at will dictate how the character holds the sword/gun (ie. gangsta style sideways pistol), which could make sword combat slightly less of a spazfest than the some arcade games I've seen. It'd be cool if this game turns out good, I'm looking forward to seeing if it does.

Thats because you're stupid... some people might not like first person shooters? Anothers are (like me) waiting for news on other games like the Zelda and Mario.

The Revolution is the system I'm hanging out for. Nintendo have always been about gaming, not about shareholders, profits or being the centre of attention in everyones home theatre setup. They have always been on hand to change the industry, the first to have wireless controllers, the best portable gaming systems (again, not needing internet or media capabilities in order to succeed) and the first to propose the ability to download every previous game on their platforms (besides gamecube).

Red Steel looks pretty awesome too, although I'm not a fan of FPSs on consoles, the reviews of the controller seem to indicate there's going to be a big difference to the feel of the whole console. Can't wait.

I hope your joking. Of course Nintendo is about that you tool. No wait, hang on, I'm wrong! Nintendo is this magical company that doesn't care about profits or being successfully. Yes, and they have a magic castle where all their developers live, and they don't pay them money but instead give them magical cookies to eat and milk from Princess Peaches titties.

Actually, the first game you mention is Palace Software's Death Sword (It was renamed Barbarian outside of the US). It had a sequel called Barbarian II: Dungeons of Drax. The second game you mentioned was Barbarian II by Psygnosis, which is the sequel to their earlier Barbarian game.
