There has been more Nintendo news in the last week, with the overseas release of many highly expected titles and several announcements.

  • The next installments of the Metroid series have been released in the US. The massively hyped Metroid Prime is an evolution of the Metroid series into the much publicised first person perspective with the gamble seemingly paying off. (IGN Review, 9.8/10).

  • Metroid Fusion, the Gameboy Advance installment of the series has also undergone some radical changes, with emphasis on story and fast gameplay rather than exploration.(IGN Review, 9.5/10)

  • Nintendo have announced that they will release a device called the Nintendo Gamecube Game Boy Player which will enable Gameboy Advance games to be played on the big screen. It will be released in Japan during March, and the US in May, there is no date set for Europe or Australia. Full story at Planet GameCube.

In Australian news, Starfox Adventures and Game & Watch Gallery Advance have entered the Australian chart at #4 and #7 respectively. It has been revealed that Resident Evil 0 will be released 28 February, a week earlier than Europe and Metroid Prime will be released on the 3 March in Europe.

Release of the Week: Mario Party 4. The ultimate multiplayer game, this time its back with better graphics and a slew of new mini-games.(IGN Review, 6.9/10)

Holy s*** that zelda looks good. I still think I would have preferred a more realistic looking Zelda, but I am not going to complain, the cel shaded look is easily the best yet. Looks just like a cartoon.

Genocide; true, but I hear it got pretty much the same treatment stateside.

It doesnt normally take 4 months, however I can see the logic behind it - MP will sell poorly if they release in January (the approximate time a release would normally take). Better sales wise to hold onto it until the people have some money again after Christmas.

smart marketing, while at the same time being annoying.

So why not release it in Aus now, just before Christmas?

Do they want to see how it sells in US so they can fix us a price for it ;P
