I was having a look at the Southern Cross Cables site and i noticed that there are upgrades planned to be done on the cable... The continued strength of customer support for Southern Cross has allowed the company to adopt a new higher-capacity Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technology that is four times faster than that currently being used by Southern Cross. find out more about Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing here. Southern Cross will initially apply the higher capacity DWDM technology only to its third fibre pair, which is scheduled to be equipped early in 2002. This will take total network capacity to 240 Gbit/s. mm more bandwidth weee you can read the full article here. |
