id Software have released Map Pak 1 (implying there will be others) for the new Quake 3 mission pack, Team Arena. Word from Paul Jaquays:

id Software has released Quake III: Team Arena Map Pak 1, which is now available as a free download. Working together with id, some of the most talented mapmakers in the Quake community have created four team-style maps that have been polished and balanced for the Team Arena game modes.

PCPP wouldn't know a good game if it came right up and bit them on the arse.

TA is great and the new maps are excellent. An Iteration of TA Hell: is a very cool map.

Let me know if you discover where the BFG is..:) no fair hacking the map to find it either...

some of the best maps i've seen are in alliance ctf they got some good quality there

I like the ones where you have to do a tricky rocketjump to get the BFG. Weeds out the newbies :)
