Alternate history games are kind of frightening. Scary because developers and writers posit some of the worst outcomes from already pretty bad real-world events from days past. But interesting because they usually explore the human condition in a positive way, despite stacked odds never in your favour. Paradise Lost from developer PolyAmorous Games and publisher All in! Games, is one such titles where you play as a 12-year-old boy stumbling upon an abandoned Nazi bunker full of mysteries and stark reminders of a world gone horribly awry. Out this year for PC, PS4 and Xbox One (no word just yet regarding current-gen machines), the game still impresses with its environments and art-direction in the videos currently out, while it can be added to Steam Wishlists right now. Here's a slice of the game's history we uncovered in some dilapidated WWII ruins: In an alternate version of WWII, the war dragged on for 20 more years only to end in flames when the Nazis launched nuclear missiles at most of Europe. In the aftermath, the heart of Europe remains shrouded in the mystery of complete destruction and deadly radiation, inaccessible to the rest of the world. There are two trailers we're embedding for you below today, the first a breakdown of the game's narrative and alt history setup, and the second splices of gameplay running in-engine. Following the trailers, stick around to have a gawk at a handful of screens we've added to showcase the meticulous game-world art waiting to be found within Paradise Lost. |
