With the release of World of Wacraft: Classic the past is now present. Well, a specific moment in time - playing WoW in the mid-2000s. Proving to be extremely popular among fans and newcomers alike, we had the chance to sit down with Blizzard just prior to launch to discuss the project, it's challenges, and the level of detail that went into making Classic a reality. Which comes down to the team getting all of the old code, data, art, and more up and running on modern World of Warcraft technology. And ensuring that no matter what - warts and all - this was old-school WoW. World of Warcraft: Classic has been a major undertaking for the team, albeit a very different one in terms of focus. With the goal being to capture the look and feel of old-school World of Warcraft the phrase ‘close attention to detail’ takes on an epic quality. Where extensive internal testing and Beta testing with the community has meant that no detail was too small to ensure Classic lived up to that memory.
