In a heartfelt longform Tweet Defiant Development head and industry legend, Morgan Jaffit, announced that the studio would be ceasing development due to not being able to "change quickly enough" to keep up with the ever-evolving world of Australian game development. Having made its mark through endless runner-like Ski Safari, the studio's biggest splash came by way of the critically acclaimed Hand of Fate and one of this writer's favourite games of the past decade, Hand of Fate 2. The Tweet explains that the studio will move into "caretaker mode" with a skeleton crew supporting its currently-released products, but also teased what they were working on next which looks fricking awesome, and just makes all the more sad that business at the studio is winding up. Our hearts go out to anyone affected by this shuttering, and hope all those involved at the studio find new homes to keep their creative selves running. |

I also really liked the look of their latest project. Just an indie thinking a bit differently. Would be good to know if there were any more specific reasons for the shuttering |
