Topic: MSY stung by the ACCC for the second time 750K

The ACCC has come down hard on MSY yet again.

“MSY had misrepresented consumers’ rights to a repair, replacement, or a refund where a product developed a fault. Businesses must ensure their refund and returns policies, and any representations accurately reflect their obligations under consumer law,” ACCC Deputy Chair Delia Rickard said.

$750,000 off the bottom line is going to sting. I wonder if they will keep the doors open.

Anyone here had problems with them?

yup.

i used to use msy (morningside) all the time.

they used to be great, responsive to emails, good prices, and even had a few repairs ok.

stopped a couple of years ago, i was trying my hardest to give them money, but coudlnt actually get an order in with them.

no response to emails, phones rang out or went to stupid message bank. coudlnt get the parts i needed through the website.

it was absolutely ridiculous.

now i just umart all the time.

msy are unusable.

I had the same experience with MSY Brendale.

The last time few times I attempted to give them my money they just wouldn't answer the phone, I tried ringing several different days and it would just ring out, once or twice it was picked up then hung up :/

I stopped using them, too much of a hassle, never had to return anything to them, nor umart. I just went to uMart the other day, it was swift and smooth.

When I was a poor student I used to buy from MSY.

Now my time is worth more than saving a few dollars, and I buy everything from Scorptec. On average components are about $10/ea more, but the time saved in chasing up receipts and warranty issues is well worth it.

Why other computer retailers haven't cottoned on to the fact that simply allowing me to go back through my entire history of purchases and pull up invoices is the one thing that keeps me going back, I'll never know.

MSY however just try to give you every run-around they can with warranty issues.

they are ok if you are simply picking something up but anything requiring service is hopeless.

MSY in Clayton went downhill a few years ago, wouldnt answer phones, emails. Went down to buy stuff in person, was told what I wanted was out of stock, but they had something just as good. went back to CPL & Scorptec. CPL can be slow and a bit blase, as if they didnt really care, but Scorptec have been really good. Bought my parts for the last 3 builds from them. Never had a problem. Only had 1 DOA and that was fixed within a couple of days. Wont use anybody else now

I've bought stuff from the ipswich store and had no problems. Also had to return a video card years back and no major issues. Though it does not surprise me that they are dodgy though, cut price means cut corners.

Yeah I saw it recently.

I bought a few things from MSY years ago. The general feel from them is dodgy so I never went back. Happy to pay a bit more at CA on the odd occasion I need something.

Is the parking still crap at U-Mart? Again, years ago I used them but pick-ups where a pita, no where to park... unless they've moved again.

I haven't bought from a brick and mortar store for years now. Most of the time I just buy from ebay using a discount code or from Amazon or Newegg to avoid the Australian mark-ups.

I was referring to Milton, I kind of recall it being near a park or oval.

This was years ago though, like probably 7+
