Yeah, if you own both Total War forays into the fantastical world of Warhammer then the new Mortal Empires update is definitely for you. So big that it gets its own Steam page, it effectively stitches together both maps from both games and gives players the option to take part in an epic and truly staggering (in size) Total War campaign.

Which is essentially am awesome gift from developer Creative Assembly, as we were happy enough to keep campaigning away in Total War: Warhammer II for the next several months.

  • A new grand scale campaign set across the Old World and the New World.
  • Play as any Legendary Lord from both games and any owned DLC.
  • Thousands of hours of gameplay.
  • 295 conquerable settlements.
  • 117 starting factions.
  • Up to 35 playable Legendary Lords.
  • Free to owners of both Total War: WARHAMMER & Total War: WARHAMMER II.

  • In lesser news, in that it should be completely free, the blood pack DLC for Total War: Warhammer II is also out now. But in a spot of sorta okay news it's free for those who have already bought the Blood For the Blood God DLC for the first game.

Really enjoying the Mortal Empires update. While they did cut parts of the WH2 map out of the enlarged map, it's still a massive game play area. The Blood God DLC is awesome and totally worth it too if you didn't get id in WH1. Just scanning over the battlefield after your artillery has decimated a group of orcs shows body parts lying everywhere and pools of blood, I honestly think it's a little bit better from TW1 blood DLC, but i haven't played that in a while and my memory might be lacking there.

Still have to wait about a month for them to release the Norsca DLC and the 30th anniversary units into Mortal Empires though, but there is plenty to do until then!

What is astounding though I'm finding while reading the Warhammer 2 forums on steam is the amount of people who feel entitled that if they purchased TW2, they should get TW1 free (or vice versa) so they can play ME. Their argument is TW2 is just a cut and paste of TW1 and no real time went in to creating it, and it's just a money grab by Sega/CA. The stupidity of some people is just astounding.
