With Microsoft hinting at additional Xbox One X enhancements, telling Gamespot in a recent interview that "There's some stuff we're going to talk about in that space in terms of how compatibility's going to work on [Xbox One] X specifically that I think people will find pretty interesting." Interesting you say? Well I'd find 480p Xbox games running in 4K with additional filtering interesting. So interesting that I'm going to go ahead and call it, original Xbox games running on Xbox One X hardware will take advantage of the additional power of the console for some Ultra-HD emulation. Perhaps even native 4K rendering, which in terms of raw power shouldn't be an issue for the console. Those original Xbox games came out a long time ago. It will just come do the emulation itself and what sort of extra features Microsoft packs in. But, we won't have long to wait with Phil Spencer also noting that the original Xbox backwards compatibility feature is still on track for 2017. With some game hubs already popping up for The King of Fighters: Neo Wave, Dead to Rights, and Red Faction 2. |
