So apparently I'm getting NBN* (HFC) now and my current DSL router, circa 2009, probably isn't, well, useful.
2 PC's (1 Media Box and 1 Gaming) and a handful of wifi devices (Android phones, Laptop etc).

Looking at Telecube plans as they have a decent deal on Whirlpool forums, but don't come with router. Factoring in a budget of ~$200 for a router (and their $99 set up fee) Telecube is still come out cheaper for my speed/data. 25/5 500GB.

However this leaves me with the router sourcing. Whirlpool is too confusing for Saturday night and a few beers down.

TP-Link Archer VR600 seems to get some love but it does not support Annex B (Whats Annex B?) and NBNco (for whatever those f***s know) recommend Annex B.
I have no brand loyalty in this instance and will probably buy whatever from uMart if it's available there.

Check out Internode's Plans for HFC. I have heard good things about them. I used Internode like wow, 12 yrs ago now when I first got adsl and they were a pretty bloody good outfit. I am also in the 'soon to get the NBN' camp and I am looking at their FTTN plan and they are pretty good and they offer some nice hardware as well.

Same speed, same data, Telecube are $30 a month cheaper than Internode.
They seem to get a decent wrap over at Whirlpool, similar praise to SkyMesh.

Further research has lead me to Asus DSL-AC68u, bit more than what I wanted to spend but within budget. No purchase to be made tonight though.

I referred to Internode because their HFC plan page has links to the hardware they use/recommend, its a Huawei HG659. I thought you might like to check out the hardware they use/recommend for your type of plan, not the pricing. :)

Depending on your needs; I wouldn't recommend any ASUS/TP-Link gear if you're looking to host any outgoing services...

Take a gander at Ubiquiti kit; it's fairly modular (so buy a router and wireless access points separately) by installation and pretty robust in terms of feature set.
