Topic: Recommend me some music

I suck at figuring out how to track down some nice tunes so I thought I'd put it to the forum -

Would anyone suggest me some good folk / blues / roots sort of stuff to check out? I'm totally out of the loop and in fact only just getting into these sorts of genres...so even obvious recommendations will not be too obvious to me!

Just looking for some cool, catchy, easy listening kind of music....if you catch my drift?

What sort of age music are you talking? What style?

some older examples
Doc Watson
BB King
Allman Brothers (their song 'Jessica' is the top gear theme)

Not exactly my taste so i'm not real up with it, and you'll need to provide some examples of what you do and don't like

I was thinking contemporary stuff - like the kind of artists you'd hear on JJJ's Roots n' all nights...

You could also try researching who inspired your favourite Musos.
Who did they listen to growing up ?

Fleet Foxes are good for a folky kinda sound. First heard them on a Foxtel Ad.

Try looking up White Winter Hymnal

Then of course still in Folkish stuff there's Bon Iver. I've never listened to him but he seems to be pretty big in that area.
