Hey guys, organising a vote thread for what faction you guys want to play as in planetside 2. (it was a BIG THING in planetside 1)

In case you haven't heard of it/played the original it's a MMO FPS shooter all about massive scale and persistent battlefields. This one is going to be free to play so numbers of people on the field is going to be off the hook, which is awesome

So just post your preffered faction/s (TR/NC/VS) or ANY if you don't have a preference, and I'll collate the results and once info on how to set up outfits comes around we can get straight into it.

Edit: If you're wondering why I'm hyped for making an outfit early, huge group tactics are both really effective and really fun... ie:



being in a big group with good communication also helps new players with all the lingo/acronyms

I have BR25 CR5s on all factions but TR was my first

I'm bored with mw s***, can anyone get into this game or is it something you have to be dedicated to with long nights & s*** like WoW? Can you just jump in & out of the game at any time if you have to, you know, go to work or sleep or other stuff people who play WoW wouldn't know about? (like showers).

If your little guy dies, is that it forever or do you respawn?

I'd be interested in playing this, I have no preference for faction - the QGL faithful can choose for me.

Yeah, you will have a quick learning curve in the first hour or so of gameplay, purely because of the amount of different things you can do. think TF2 classes in the bf3 environment (with giant robot suits). Starting off as a newbie running along with the frontal assault and taking out whatever comes your way is always going to be fun and chaotic. Or you could just go support roles

Yes and no. If you want to be one of the leaders or specialised for a major role in your faction then yeah. If you just want to have fun killing people by yourself/with a casual faction then you can do that too.

Jumping in and out is no problem. Since there's so many people, unless your role is central (say piloting a galaxy), the battle is going to go on without you.

You lose whatever vehicle/bought equip you had on you at the time but all your stats etc remain. Resources (from area controlled) let you buy things each time you die over.

I was interested in this but sort of had some doubts but that video was f***ing amazing.

Now we play the waiting game.

So you don't have to be a part of a squad or group or anything in order to play, you can just join a random team like CS?

This kind of sounds like a game I might be into. The graphics sort of remind me of unreal tournament where everything is all brightly coloured, should make a nice change from everything being brown (quake), or "sand" (every FPS in recent years).

So let's say i'm part of the alliance, and I die and the next time I come to play it but decide to be a brown coat, do I have access to any resources the browncoats have, or just resources they've gathered since I joined? Or do I have to gather my own resources all over again but they are available the next time I spawn, so long as I stay a browncoat?

Is there word of local servers? That is my only major concern, otherwise it looks great.

WTB faster than light internet so I can get 0 ping overseas =(
