Did you buy your copy of DEHR overseas via greenmangaming, ozgameshop or other methods? Well guess what ...

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is region locked.

Are there any regional restrictions in the PC version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution?

The PC version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution is region-locked.
Please be sure to purchase a copy from your own region, otherwise you might not be able to register the game.
If you should not be able to register your copy due to a region conflict, please return the game to your retailer. Square Enix cannot offer assistance in replacing incompatible registration codes.

For information on how to change the game language, see the following article:

Only found this out from ozgameshop a little while ago due to them emailing me:

Hi

This is an update for our valued customers who have bought one of these titles:

Deus Ex Human Revolution Game PC
Deus Ex Human Revolution Limited Edition Game PC
Deus Ex Human Revolution Augmented Edition Game PC

These games use Steam to connect to servers which both register the product and allows on-line play, we now have information stating
that the publishers have issued a lock on the regions so that only the games distributed to that country/region will have access to use them.
Unfortunately we can't guarantee that the version of these title we will be stocking will be fully compatible with your region, we are therefore issuing you with a full refund.

We wanted to inform you straight away to firstly explain the situation and be open and honest with you, the refunds will appear back into the account you made the payment from within the next few working days.

Kind regards

Also apparently it is only region locked for BOXED copies of the game. I still think it is stupid of Square-Enix to do this.

Frak, I did indeed from Greenman, no mention of a refund yet though. >_<

Defo not paying more than $50 for any game.

Still its ONLY $62.99 on Steam rather then the usual $89.99 for here in AUS. Unless you want the crappy Augmented edition Steam is offering, that's $71.99.

Yeah that's true, I just checked, had thought that it was $80 - $90.

Will wait until it's cheaper, have so much to do already and haven't played a jillion other games yet. If greenman don't give a refund and that copy doesn't work, I'm definitely not paying for it twice.

Would probably pay up to $100 for Thief 4 from the same developer & publisher though. :P

Don't be a dick to your customers, Square Enix.
For certain the Deus Ex: Human Revolution Torrent Edition isn't going to be region locked.

sounds like SE marketing BS to try and kerb online sales at cheaper prices...

FFS can't we just have a 'global' f***ing market on this s*** already??

I bought it from GMG and refuse to react to that news until I go to load the game and get an error stating as such...

THEN I'll go into 'c***stomer' meltdown...

Wow, this is pretty lame. Even though it doesn't look like it'll affect me cos I ordered from GMG as well, but still, what a dick move on Square Enix's behalf. Region locking on consoles is bad enough, why bring this s*** to PC games as well?

Australia will have to launch a class action on anti-competitive behavior of publishers that region lock prices then price gouge a country. That would stop em.

Partly, I'm pretty sure no such law, or variant of, exists otherwise surely it would have been done by now.
