I've stumbled upon http://ealouse.wordpress.com/ which is a blog post written by "EA Louse", a soon to be dismissed Bioware Mythic employee who is currently anonymous.

I found out recently that I will be dismissed from Bioware Mythic during the next round of layoffs EA coming this November. I’m sick of seeing EA outsource their art and find every excuse to get rid of us and still not achieve anything. Mythic is dying, and its not us who killed him but we’re taking the fall.

I'm still reading it; but to set the tone:

First, the project leaders did not know what they were doing. Jeff Hickman was the saddest excuse for a producer I’ve seen

...
...e needed Jeff Hickman, promoted from customer service to produce the Warhammer project. Wait, let me let you have that sink in. The man running customer service, on the theory that the management of a large team of CSRs qualified him to run a game development project, was put in charge of a $50 million project with no previous experience.

I have not played the game; but does any of this ring true?

Worrying what he/she had to say about The Old Republic. Was hoping there would be more than meets the eye, but it seems to really just be "everything is voice acted, everything else will be as atrocious as it looks"

Though I thought the space combat looked like it could be fun for a while.

Well, it could be a case of "well i'm getting fired may aswell cause some havoc while i'm on my way out".. But i'm only saying that because i don't want The Old Republic to fail :(.

1) "Well I'm getting fired, may as well cause some havoc while I'm on my way out"
2) "SW:TOR is gonna suck hard"

These two scenarios aren't necessarily mutually exclusive.
In any case, Blizzard is laughing all the way to the bank.

I think the biggest problems with warhammer were:

- mythic did it with EA or whatever, meaning it probably had stupid arbitrary deadlines based on holiday season marketing targets rather than deadlines based on whether the product was actually ready

- they didn't cater to the wow pve crowd with lots of dungeons and raid encounters and a well-structured, largely-varied loot system. if they had done that, even though mythic like focusing on pvp, they may have held a large number of pve players who would provide the bread and butter subscription income to keep them afloat and develop both pve and pvp content.

in daoc, mythic had a brilliant formula with their pvp - it was quite dynamic and there was always something to do other than /duel or enter pre-made battlegrounds. several times I saw our 8-man get bored of rolling pugs, so we'd go whack on a keep door to alert enemy players of our presence and soon it'd become a big game of taking each others keeps and sometimes even turned into a relic raid on the fly. or organised relic raids - so often I hear wow players say how much effort it took back when raids were 40 man. big deal. try 300-man, and against actual players instead of predictable NPC's. coordinating the taking of 6 or so keeps so that they fell all within seconds of each other so the enemy realm had as little warning as possible, and then coordinating 10-20 teams of players to block defenders at choke points and defending the return of the relics to your homeland relic keep. it was f***ing awesome, and the mateship between players and guilds on the same realm was fantastic

I had hoped they would carry over that formula to warhammer, along with the pve content that makes wow so popular
wasn't to be :/
