It's looking like equating Alan Wake to a weekly TV series was actually a larger hint at just how the game will be delivered to gamers. In an interview over at Joystiq, Remedy's Matias Myllyrinne outlined the team's plans for substantial DLC support post-release, in a fashion not at all dissimilar to a TV series, meaning the main game (or first release), may very well simply serve as the "pilot". "I think it'll depend a lot on the audience," he told the site. "But certainly we want to - if we're successful - do a large Season 2, if you will, at some point. Right now, I'm not allowed to say what we're doing exactly this year. But we're going to have more than one episode come out this year." If this is indeed true, it could prove unique and engaging, or slow and annoying - here's hoping the 'episodes' aren't 44 minutes long. |

As long as we're still getting a full game on the disc, then this decision isn't really f***ing with the game. A game delivered episodically in the style of a tv show dovetails into some ideas I've had kicking around in my head for a while, so I'm interested to see how this turns out and if it works.
If they're only delivering half the game on the disc and the other half as DLC though, then thats f***ed. But that seems like a ridiculous thing to do. I would imagine (hope?) that they're not going to make such a stupid move. |

"Holy s*** this game is f***ing AWESOME. You could cut the f***ing thing in half and it wuld still sell!" |

Aye - if Microsoft and Remedy want to screw me they better be the ones buying ME dinner and not the other way around. |
