Brisbane is +10 GMT. So take GMT, and add 10 hours, and that's Brisbane time. Add one more hour to get Syd/Melb time, for those cities that are in a real time zone |

Why the f*** do big organisations keep using US-centric PST and EST when they are releasing content that they know will definitely be seen/used by an international audience?
NASA does it too for launches, and I generally have to dig through to find a UTC/GMT quote on their mission site or find an online time-zone converter. GMT is s*** easy to convert for everyone. Please use it, arg@#%@^ |

Same reason why America keeps using United States Customary units (almost Imperial Units), because they are American. |

EST These timezones are so confusing because here in Australia we also use EST for E(astern) S(ummer) T(ime), which is often confused with AEST. Then there's E(astern) D(aylight) T(time). |

Why cant they just release games on the day it says. Bugger wether it's in the US or not but when its 17th here, it should unlock. Then when it clicks over for them it should unlock then. We always have to f***ing wait for them.

Why the f*** do big organisations keep using US-centric PST and EST when they are releasing content that they know will definitely be seen/used by an international audience?Yep. It's f***ing annoying. They've been doing it for years and years and years, too. It happens a lot on the server lists I'm on, and every time I try to reply smarmily and pointing out that if they don't include a timezone then we'll release it on AU time, which of course means we'll often be 10 or more hours earlier than they've planned. This has actually happened several times with big file releases, too. We've dealt with the Australian publishers to organise releases and they give us a time and forget to check the time zone. We release the file, make a big noise about it, then 30 minutes later we're forwarded this massive email trail starting at the US publishers say "hey how did this AusGamers mob get these files and why are they releasing them now?!?!!?", and ending at the Australian publisher begging us to take them down. It really highlights the US-centric focus of these companies and the fact that they have not yet dragged their ass into the Internet age. |

Wondering how unlocking will go for people that have a US version. Will it f*** up and try and unlock/download parts for the aussie version and thus fuxor our uncensored copy?

No, because they're treated as completely separate products. Just because it uses the same files, its a different game as far as Steam is concerned.

Not worth making a new thread over, but appears L4D2 got released early in the states & some person was nice enough to record all of the campaigns:
http://www.youtube.com/user/mystrsangel. There's some crappy machinima there too, but there's also playthroughs of each chapter (from what I can tell). |

I just had a look at the cover and it had PAL on it so I don't think it would be an issue. I didn't buy any special copy, just ordered it online from a UK game shop.

So my uncensored L4D2 just unlocked, and the first thing it did was download a patch. I'm really hoping that wasn't a last minute patch to censor it :(
Edit: ok, it didn't unlock, its still locked, just downloaded a patch. |

Yeah, just played through the first campaign, the finale was awesome, no just hunkering down in a corner and shoot stuff till the time is up, its way more mobile and you never feel safe. The area is so big and open and s*** is just coming from every direction, great improvement.

Well, I'd offer to play with you CTD, except they decided to break steam :/
Only 44 minutes to copy my steam directory elsewhere on my HDD (nearly 100gb worth) so I can retinstall and re-copy it back and see if THAT fixes it. So, see you in maybe 4 hours. asdlfjkfjka valve. |

anyone else having problems with the game freezing? mines done is 3 times now forcing me to reset the computer each time. There was a issue where pplz game would freeze when special infected would spawn. Not sure if its what you are getting but the work around was to run it in low violence mode, and to fix it permanently one would need to delete and re-download l4d2 |

When I go to purchase, it asks for my Payment method and billing information... I've got no choice but to put in my Australian address here with my credit card information I gather. Will this cock it up? Or do i just uncheck the box "I currently live in the country selected above" ? |

nat: just enter some US address and leave the checkbox checked
dryden: that just happens with steam sometimes, presumably when it's busy |

Man, that chainsaw does mega damage. I was thinking it's way too powerful and then suddenly it ran outta fuel. Really liking the game so far. Couldn't play it though if it didn't have full gore, especially that bit in the shop grabbing the six pack and there's an endless stream of zombies running in because of the alarm. f***ing dead bodies everywhere.

I can't keep up with these posts/threads.
Someone mentioned a while back that playing the uncensored version on a server with players who have the censored version causes a change in some way. Is this the case? Or will there be no difference playing an o/seas version on an aussie server? |

I love the levels. There is so much more to explore in them. This definately s***s all over the first one, and then some. I love the melee weapons. So much carnage! The characters are great too. Ellis and Coach <3 Anyone played the carnival games in Dark Carnival? |

I can't keep up with these posts/threads. There's no diff. We had 3 ppl with the UK/US version and 1 with the AU ver last night, we had all the gore and the guy with the AU copy just complained the whole time. |

Yeah, its definitely a good improvement on #1. I love the 8-player versus mode called 'Scavanger Hunt' (or something like that, mine is not in English so not sure proper translation). You have 1m30s to find as many Jerry cans to fill the Genny with as you can. Each time you put a Jerry in the Genny you get more time. Then when you eventually die, the other team has to beat your number of Jerry's. It's really awesome. I haven't seen a team get to the maximum 16 cans yet - highest we had last night, and we were getting pwned, was 9 cans. btw. You don't need VPN for those that are using that method. |

O damn it!
I downloaded it with the last of my quota, using 3fl for most of it (un-metered for me). However it used some of my quota I guess it didn't download it entirally from 3fl. So I noticed some of the textures where bodgy, did a scan of the files and 6 failed. So steam started to download it. I thought, wait I'll setup steamwatch, so I tell Steam to pause downloading. I download and install steamwatch, go check Steam and OMG it was in 'download stopping' mode and had downloaded the 6 files, arg. I have maybe 500 megs left of quota until Friday lol. |

Steamwatch is trouble.
http://members.iinet.net.au/~chapman.j/ Even when I closed steam watch it would hang around in my processes and reappear after every restart even though I disabled it. At least if you run out of cap 3fl has a 100s of servers set up. |

Is it just me, or is the AI worse in this than the first one? Maybe its just because the levels are more complicated and theres more stuff now, but the AI hasn't advanced at all, but it feels really, REALLY dumb. Was playing lats night with 3 of us and a bot, doing the campaign, and the bot was just utterly spastic. They seem completely incapable of keeping up with you during the gauntlet "Oh s***, run run run" type parts, and half the time they just seem to spaz out and run off completely separate from the rest of the group.
Once we got a fourth person in there though and f***ed off the bot, it was fantastic. |

Bots are definitely spastic in L4D2.
I pretty much play VS. exclusively and I'm very happy with L4D2. Survivors are getting absolutely owned every single map (rarely finishing) and playing as infected is a blast. I love when players resort to L4D1 tactics and camp out a room/corner and you get a good spit in and all hell breaks loose. Seen some incredibly skillful jockey situations too, very fun... incredibly stupid jump though that's frustrating at times, got to stop treating it like a hunter. My gripe atm is the deep water/ferry bit (believe it's in the swamp campaign), since when does water instantly kill you? A charger catches you and BAM, there goes a teammate, that section is very dodgey. What's even MORE spastic is the water kills special infected IN INVISIBLE MODE!!! WHAT THE f***. Also chainsaw FTMFW! |

I find the Special Infected AI to be good. Was having a play today when a friend mentioned that the spec.infected AI was good, then mentioned how crap the survivor AI is.
They are pretty dumb. In one part 3 of us Humans came across a witch, we were discussing the best way around when BAM! the AI just ran up to it.. |

I haven't used the cc=us thing, so I can't comment on that, but once you've bought it you can definitely download from an australian server. I bought the US version with a vpn and downloaded from internode and its all sweet.

khel isnt cc=us the us version? where did you get your us version on Yeah, cc=us is the US version, same version I got, I just did it through a VPN so I got no personal experience with how the cc=us process works. But theres people who've done it, and it works, and its heaps simpler than using a VPN, so I'd say go for it. Only thing you have to make sure of, is when it comes time to put in your billing details, you change the country to US, and stick in a valid US state and postcode (the rest of your billing details can stay the same). Also I think you gotta pay by credit card, cos paypal spazzes out. |

Survivor AI is just so f***ing s***, completely ruins ANY online game that's not 8/8.
It's just so incredibly unbalanced at 7/8 that it's not worth playing. I really need to find some L4D pugs or something, because these pub games are making me rage so goddamn hard. ARGHHHHHHHHHHH I can jump onto my favourite TF2 server and blast out 3 hours of gaming, but I can't go 5 minutes without a bunch of s***c***s leaving and ruining my L4D2 game. |

Scavenge mode is f***en awesome when you get 8 players in. So awesome + it doesn't last 10 years like versus.
Favourite mode by far. |

Yeah scavenge is awesome with a full server, when you got good equal teams it's very intense.
One game we were at 10/16, in overtime. Split up into 2 pairs, 1 pair went to get the a single can while the other pair stood at the generator holding the can but not pouring. Ended up getting to 16/16 via that method, my heart was about to explode. |

Be interesting to see how it goes when everyone clues on to it. Right now spitter is rolling because not everyone is aware that dropped cans set on fire when spitted on. Also spitting when they are filling up slows em down.
