Hey guys,

Preface: I have a wireless network at home but when I get home I plug in a cat5 cable and it still uses the wifi preferentially for the internet.

Is there anyway to change this so that it uses the wired connection first. I think I remember in XP there was an option to change the order of network connections it tries to use first (as I had to move hamachi to the top to play some games over the net)

Im using windows 7 build 7100

Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network Connections

Press ALT-N then goto advanced settings and the adapter order is there. Bump LAN up above Wifi.

not sure about windows 7.

But in xp you have to goto the view network connections window. On the menu bar is "Advanced" > "Additional Settings".
Can choose the order of preference here.

making the wired the default connection or something?
