I think I see a new Adobe flash or PDF exploit/vulnerability every couple of days. This one is interesting as its a Flash .SWF file embedded into Acrobat 9 PDF files. Usually the bug is in one or the other, but this time they work together to make this bug. I found a blog on threatpost that lists out a handy mitigation technique for those of you who wish to keep ahead of the bug. http://threatpost.com/blogs/adobe-flash-attacks-underway-harden-pdf-reader-immediately I remember when PDF files were the secure way of sending documents around. :] |

No file format owned by adobe is a practical or sensible way of doing anything.

Ah, PDFs are essential for business. You email peeps invoices/quotes/POs in doc format do you? Free for them to change at their own will. Or wait, better, you fax them still? :-P |

Who cares if they change it, I know what I said in my email. The PDF doesn't stop a fraudster, just makes everyones life a little harder. I've never even seen a fax machine, what is this the 80s?
Being able to edit a contract is like negotiating via a wiki, it s***s you at first, but you get to avoid seeing the person. last edited by thermite at 23:43:14 23/Jul/09 |

PDF journal articles + Foxit reader with the ability to add comments is the greatest thing for academics.
