nG! pretty messy. i am pretty surprised the police commisioner is treating it as 'death in custody' because the cops were chasing... tough call.

Resedents of the house where half the car ended up say they were woken by a loud bang and ran out to an horrific scene in the front yard.

In the article it said one woman climbed out of the sunroof:

Death in custody? Hogwash.

To me custody is under the control of, and quite obviously the police did not have control of that car.

News report said clocked at least 160km/h. Natural selection at its finest.

160 has nothing to do with natural selection, especially in a late model euro luxury car

160km/h on a suburban street with an obviously inexperience/inept driver whom is possible evading arrest?

I'd call that natural selection.

Spook, they were heading from the freeway towards Logan Rd, and it looks like they've come off just around the first LH bend getting towards Hibiscus (ending up on the wrong side of the road).

Fade: Its not natural selection when the person who dies wasn't driving.

they were clocked doing that speed on the M3, not on klumpp rd

they must have been moving on Klumpp Rd as well though Jim because that isn't a big corner by any stretch of the imagination, and they have clearly hit the pole at speed.

it's not natural selection even if the person that was driving dies. natural selection is an evolutionary process that takes generations. this was a road accident fatality :P

ah ok, on the radio this morning they said coming towards the freeway:

its a pretty gentle left hander, but there have been roadworks aroudn there;

he would have had to be super motoring to get into trouble

i can easily take that corner at 60, maybe 70kph in the davwoo

yeh not saying they weren't moving at speed on klumpp rd, I'm just responding to the apparent idea that doing 160kph means you will die

You call it idiocy, I call it just deserts. Subjective opinion.

Passanger or driver. You got into that car. Choices, it'd be grand if people took responsibility for them.

ka** g**** is f***ing speechless!!!! I was the first person on the scene at the high speed crash on Klumpp Road Mt Gravatt (see headlines on news). I applied first aid to the driver, assisted the female passenger, and the saddest thing was the other girl was badly disfigured and her body mangled. When i got to her she had no pulse... this image will stay with me forever (too graphic to describe) no one helped me....i'm shocked!

It is when the person could have easily said stop and let me the f*** out. Sorry but obviously the guy that wasn't driving was enjoying himself aswell..

Perhaps they were, perhaps the driver was pissed off and wasn't letting them out.

mission: it's all about choices. Choice to get into the car. Choice to stay in the car instead of insisting the driver stop. Drivers whom drive like this do so often, so its likely the passengers could foresee the excess speed and/or reckless driving in general, and still chose to get into the vehicle.

So yes, natural selection.

Actually, the house where it landed has just had a s***load of landscaping done to the front yard... If they'd only waited a little while they could have had it done for them by the Audi.

That aside, lucky the trees weren't there I guess or there probably wouldn't have been ANY survivors

Considering where the other half landed, it would of renovated the house instead.

I think they just had half their front yard reclaimed because of road widening. They've made a bus lane along there. It was a new fence etc.

You won't have a life if you punch the driver in the head or yank the hand brake at high speed.

no not really, I'd much rather roll the car on the highway than hit a f***ing power pole
its not speed that kills you, its the sudden stop when you hit an inanimate object

if someone isnt listening to me I think a punch in the head is a pretty good way to get their attention, chances are they'd stop pretty quickly
handbrake only locks up rear wheels and in most cases at speed it wont even lock them up, it will just slow you down slightly and the driver would want to stop the car to avoid damage

he asked for ways to stop it, i gave serious answers
heardy, when i say "human life" i mean everyone except the driver if im stuck in a car with an idiot driver

gathered data, compiled stats & present the driver with a gant chart showing his behaviour was tending towards foolishness.

You drop the nice attitude and tell them firmly that you're not comfortable travelling with them at that speed. You demand that they stop driving the way they are, or let you out immediately.

Dropping the friendly smile usually does it, people get that you're seriously uncomfortable.

The cab drivers in Spain do about 160km everywhere. They don't speak English, you can't tell them to slow down.

When we were dirving to Ibiza airport I think the dude touched 180...

i see your point... no point in showing obes the stats as he won't believe them & could start an argument that might distract him from driving. so i'd prolly default back to relax, as the times i've been in a car with obes driving he was pretty sedate. :D

I had this in Seoul, cabby must've been hitting 170km/h in a 100km/h and would slam on the brakes when the speed cameras were coming up, then plant it back up to plaid speed as soon as he went past. At least I made the plane.

pretty sure u would be hard pressed to survive jumping out of a car going 100km on the highway. even though u have seen 007 do it on bond, in real life u cant just "roll" out of it.

i think you'll find your chances of surviving a roll are alot higher than hitting a pole at 160km/h

my dad was in a F100 that rolled back in the very early 90's when i was a young tucker and they got out of it alright, think the other person had a broken collar bone. can't remember if my dad was driving or the other person.

that said, those older F100's are pretty strong compared to todays little s***ters

my mate went into parked cars at 170km, totalled the parked cars but everyone in my mates car survived. 5 ppl in the car, few bruises and one chick broke her back but she is fine now.

he was in a vn.

thats what seatbelts are for. jumping and rolling aint goin to do s***
