Had the same problem once, ended up creating a second vdisk and symlinking a large partition across.

um, not easily, but what I would do is get a bootable cd iso for cloning disk (shadow protect, acronis ghost etc) power off the vm, create a new disk with the size u want, boot up the vm off the iso image, clone the disks, making sure u tell the clone software to use the full size of the new disk, power off the vm, remove the old c: noting the scsi id before you remove it, change the scsi id's of the new disk to be what the original disk was, eg the c: was probably scsi 0:0 and the new one the added would have probably been 0:1, so change it to 0:0. power up your vm with the new disk and off u go.
might sound complicated but its not realy. |

+1 for shadow protect.
You can also increase the size of the vmdk file (using vdiskmanager I think it is) and then use some freeware tool (or diskpart.exe in windows) to get windows to use the new space (I have never done it this way but heard of people doing it). |

I think I am going to try as per this
http://vmprofessional.com/index.php?content=2k3resize I have another W2k3 VM running on the same host, apparently you can mount the associated drive, boot to windows and then use diskpart to extend it You cant use diskpart on a boot partition afaik |
