Lucasarts have released another new trailer for Star Wars: The Old Republic, the hotly anticipated MMORPG in the works at BioWare.

The latest vid showcases the game's voice-acting, perhaps it's strongest selling point as the first ever MMO to be 100% voiced. There's more in-game action in here and BioWare fans will see the familiar dialogue-wheel from Mass Effect back in action. Check it out right here on AusGamers.

I will be curious how they will generate enough voice for the gameplay to not sound repetitive. This has got me intrigued.

Voice should come standard, like air. I was highly s***ted off with all the wii titles coming out where you had to read captions. Laaaame, come on!
No idea why game developers have always thought that mute acting and scrolling text is the way to go.

Probably the same reason most ipod accessories are actually s***ty old portable radio accessories - it's very easy to take something from the 70s, paint it white, and say it's for the latest system. Probably why all my USB hard drives require a separate power adaptor. It costs money to design stuff to take advantage of modernly available technology.

Might have something to do with budgets thermite. If you feel your not getting enough for your money, don't buy it.

Sure it will ...

Conan was 100% (until level 20).
Everquest 2 had a lot of voice.

These games always add content or change content. So be interesting to see how long it stays 100% voice acted or alternatively how long an MMO which has static content lasts.

It mostly seems to be Japanese developed titles that do this, so maybe it's a cultural thing. I also thought it was pretty lame playing mario galaxy and all the characters still do that mumble jibberish thing as a text box appears.

But I guess consider translation reasons, especially European releases, where some discs come packed with like 8 different languages.

I haven't heard anything about old republic being in anything but English at this stage. Although I guess a fair chunk of the dialogue will be various Alien languages subtitled like they do.
