Welcome to another AusGamers Weekly Wrap - the one stop news post for your week's worth of headlines, media and editorial in all things videogaming - brought to you by the guys putting love back into videogame journalism... us! This week saw a lot of news making headlines, with a host of new media along with a few reviews from us, for good measure. The Holiday season is fast approaching and we're seeing more and more in the way of hype for the year's bigger releases, so without further adieu, let's move straight onto last week in gaming. In the headlines it seemed like Activision were going to attach "Call of Duty" to Modern Warfare 2 after all, only they removed it again later (wish they'd make up their minds), Raven Software's Singularity slipped to Q1 2010, new multiplayer DLC for Halo Wars was announced, Tor Books revealed they'd be publishing novels based on the EVE Online game universe, Bethesda gave a release date for Fallout 3: Mothership Zeta, it turns out Gearbox Games were the mystery "Duke Begins" developer, Infinity Ward showcased the various versions of Modern Warfare 2, a Team Fortress 2 update was released, DICE celebrated the 43,000,000th kill in Battlefield 1943, Bethesda revealed id would only be working on their own IP (not Bethesda's), Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen DLC was announced, Bill Gates talked Project Natal working with Windows, an update for Counter-Strike 1.6 released, Alan Wake will remain an Xbox 360 exclusive for the time being, FIFA 10 scored an Aussie release date, a Left 4 Dead update became available introducing a lobby browser, GTA: Episodes From Liberty City was announced, Hideo Kojima talked Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Capcom released a PC Resident Evil 5 benchmark tool and Treyarch released a new update for Call of Duty: World At War that included Map Pack 2 for PC gamers. Videos we highly recommend:
What we've been playing lately at the AGN offices: Left 4 Dead (PC), FIFA 08, Tales of Vesperia, Fallout 3, Oblivion, Trauma Center (Wii), Steam's "MumboJumbo" pack, World of WarCraft and Overlord 2. That's it from us for another week. Stay tuned next Monday for the next AusGamers Weekly Wrap, but feel free to jump in here and comment on anything mentioned above - get amongst it! |

I dusted off Oblivion because I've played Fallout 3 to death... I can't decide which game I prefer, but I think I'm leaning more toward Fallout 3. |

I wasn't a fan of the 10 minutes or so I spent with it - very anti pick-up-and-play |

well, its a combat sim (realistic) but the AI is horrible.
e.g. when Razor crew gets told to go find the dude who killed their leader, you go to get in a helicopter, and the AI team mates can get stuck on the rear rotor of the chopper and get injured. LOL. Try again Bohemia. |

Smart AI is a myth, I doubt it will happen for decades yet, play the game with out using AI and it's pretty sweet. I only played Arma 1 in co-op. |

Yeah, smart AI - yet to see any. Love ArmA 2 though. Yes, it has a lot of problems, but it's a very ambitious game. I essentially buy the game to keep funding the devs that are trying to make a game that suits me. I particularly support their open-mindedness with regards to their addon and scripting architecture which encourages a diverse modding community. |

Sure they did a beta test, they got ze Germans to do it for v1.0, and made them pay for it lolz. It's reflected well here... http://www.gamestats.com/objects/958/958404/articles.html The worst scores are from German reviewers because it was a unique version published by Morphicon/Petergames in Germany only (though downloadable internationally), the rest got the proper version a while later from 505 Games, cant remember the US publishers name. |
