Hopefuly this is OK, I know there is already another Newerth thread but its full of f***ing invite spam. Also note that the NDA was lifted 2 days ago so its OK to talk about it in detail now (no screenshots or videos though).

I noticed there's a few QGL guys playing - is there a QGL clan or channel or anything? I have never played much DoTA and I admit to sucking at this incarnation but I've been reading lots of strats etc and getting into it.

It seems to be a lot better, fun and easier to skill up if you play with a regular crew (much like team games in StarCraft IIRC).

So who's playing? Post your nick - I'm unimaginatively "Hogfather".

There's been 10 or so games up to join when I (try to) play in the afternoon / night.

Beta is full of DoTA arseholes and stat farmers who like to stack newbie games though, so its hard to learn the game without a regular group.

last few times i looked there was plenty of games at least 3-4 noob friendly < 0.5 KD ones aswell.

my first impressions have been good certainly nice to see dotaesq with some nicer gfx, tho there is still something to be said for warcrafts very clean bright game.

The "noob only" games are always full of retards. They get three invites per week so they create new accounts just to team on noobs.

There's also a few nasty bugs floating around but you should expect that given it's status.

I was one of the first to go into the beta and I can say much has improved.

With that said you'll meet a hat full of a******s from DoTA who will spoil the whole experience for you.

hogfather, add me i'm on as greazy. i usually play with friends who arent dota fags.

the games leaver rate thingy is a real pain in the butt. i left in a game of 3v3 because another guy left making it 2v1. that still counted as leaving so i had 100% leave rate. i played a game yesterday and the game crashed, another leave mark.

Yeh the leaving thing is arse. I understand the motivation but I spent 30 minutes in the pool the other day as I was 8 levels behind the rest of the crew and was just feeding if I did anything outside the base (and sometimes inside it).

Will add you when I'm in - thanks!

that fixed in the current patch greazy.

"If one team is down by more than 2 players, the players left on that team may leave the match without gaining a leaver mark on their stats"

also few more invites came my way, however these are for long standing QGL members only, no sub 50 posts.

No need to post here, just PM with email address.

Played some GGs tonight and got a few wins for the first time! Game is pretty fun once you get used to it. The random-hero and shuffle teams option is sweet, f***s over the stackers.

Its really weird though if you've not played DoTA before, the game invites you to be aggressive but in order to win you have to be cautious 90% of the time. I'm not sure the game model doesn't need work - any game where its advantageous to kill your own guys seems a bit weird..
