the first thing you should install on xp is power tool image resizer, why its not part of windows i have no idea;
thank me later reload http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe its like 500k, highlight your images, right click->image resize-> choose size-> done; |

Another vote for irfanview, use it pretty much every day for games screenshots.

I batch processed 8000+ images the other day with Irfanview. It handled it gracefully.
