To me L4D is what Quake wanted to be. (ie. Quake not the sequels, Quake2 and beyond where further away from how Quake was original described)

Hence L4D needs the original Quake maps!

Also needs "Left for dead in space" ... hordes of Aliens you with cool space style weapon. With DLC "Left for dead on Mars"

And "Left for dead in 1942" ... The german army is infected by a zombie disease ...

So much potential for the francise.

We were talking about this yesterday at work, Grand Theft Zombies, basically just take GTA4's city and fill it full of zombies.

Imagine left 4 dead, except when you get on the boat at the end of death toll you actually drive the boat to another island and work your way across it, jumping in vehicles and running down zombies. Would be insane if someone modded that in.

Couldn't you just drive the boat... around the island?

You're both wrong! Zombies aren't real so there would be no reason to be in the boat in the first place.

There is a game called "Prototype" that I linked a little while ago which is GTA meets Zombies in New York

It also doesn't have 4 player co-op or a versus mode. Thus is a rancid elephant turd of a game.

Uh Carmageddon didn't have paddles?

Anyway the people in Carmageddon were only "zombies" so it would pass censorship weren't they?

Zombie sharks with laser beams and pounce.

*edit* zombie squids with tentacle grab
and zombie seagulls that s*** on people attracting hordes of zombie crabs

Is Left 4 Dead worth buying if you don't have mates to co-op with regularly? Like are there heaps of servers out there to just jump in and play, like TF2?

I'd say it's easier to find a game in L4D then it is in TF2.

However there are a moderate number of nubs, but as you play you'll make l4d friends and then it'll become less retarded.

For co-op itself, I only really play with friends, versus mode though (where other players are the boss zombies) I'm usually happy to just jump on any server, but I've been known to leave if you have dropkicks my side.

'a' game maybe, but not necessarily a good game.

Much easier to just browse servers in TF2 and join something that appeals to you. e.g. if you know a particular server is 24/7 of one map and has moderate to good players on it usually.

In L4D the servers are more dynamic, one moment they have good players but then bad at the next cycle, so you can't tell in advance what you're up for. Plus the random match-making algorithm that L4D uses is fairly crap.

and a team that may have been doing awesomely as survivors suddenly suck balls as infected, or vice-versa
