If you order the UK one it will work in Australia, although last i heard posibly no SBS. Have a look on whirlpool. I'm running one here in the UK and it works nicely ...

I forgot all about this thing. So it's out now? I don't suppose it'd have a program guide for Australia TV, would it? Or does it just use the existing slow-as-f*** EPG?

Its out in the UK but not here yet. Wikipedia says the release is July 2009, but i don't think it has a source and is just speculation.

Yeah, but I mean if one were to import the UK version into Australia, it wouldn't have a program listing, would it?

probably not but I think we could knock one up, its likely just an xml feed or something
tvguide.com.au could be parsed if they have an xml output too

Just be aware that UK digital TV is light years ahead of Australian digital TV.

In terms of technology, or channel offerings?

if its technology then both, but its more likely just channel offerings
we've only just gone digital recently, so it can't be too far advanced since then

we just have SFA channels compared to most non-3rd world countries
infact, theres probably 3rd world countries with more than 3 mainstream channels

It works in Australia right now.

http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=894585&p=50

It gets the EPG from the one broadcast by the stations.

Nah dude...

They have WAY more channels, but they don't have high def. Only 16:9 SDTV

Actually, let me clarify. They do have HDTV, but not through FreeView (Terestrial) its only available with pay tv (cable or satelite).

the HD channels don't get recorded in HD?

plus I'd rather pay and get a heap of ad free channels.

Who do you pay for adfree channels? The only company I know of is my ISP, and they're being sued for it :-)

Just saw it bundled with a PS3 in a good guys catalogue for $589.

PS3 getting more and more attractive.

Dual tuner networked pvr blue-ray player. nice.

The only thing that comes close to that (that I know of. can't say i've really reseached tho) is those panasonic jobbies for ~1500 - 1800 depending on the HDD size. It records blue ray-tho. But I mean really.

<600 vs. >1500

Foxtel IQ(2) is the HD box, IQ(1) isn't.
