Link to news article. Doesn't really say much. That dude has some serious anger issues though, it's not like he's paying for the sets or any wasted footage. Kinda surprising since he always tends to come across very calm in most of his roles and interviews, sign of a good actor I guess.

I'd read an article from his old manager or someone who was close to him before he was a big star, and apparently he was a spoilt brat who's father would pander to him and he has massive insecurities which are unleashed in rages like this.

nf, it's possible here too, generally for the tort of assault, there needs to be a direct voluntary interference with the person (them hearing the threat) and a reasonable apprehension of imminent physical contact (carrying out the threat)

I couldn't even listen to the whole thing; dropped my opinion of him as a person quite a bit. I don't generally give a s*** what actors do in their spare time but it sure makes it more pleasant to watch them knowing they're not giant a******s

He did say its the second time he did it, and how much is this movie worth? $100 million? I'd say it isn't unreasonable of him to expect the crew to know what they're doing... as for the way he handled it, probably not the best way... but meh who cares.

LA based DJ RevoLucian has made rage danceable by setting Christian Bales on set tirade to a nice little club beat. What’s even more amazing is that he did this s*** in like 12 hours. The guys a genius, at least in the category of setting threats to music

Doesn't really matter who was in charge, he's just an employee who wasn't happy with his working conditions/surroundings and was trying to get it sorted out. The problem is that Bale could have and should have asked the guy in a much better way .. "excuse me mate, but can you please not walk around so much? That's not what I said, or what I meant. Nice humongous f***ing exaggeration. Tom Cruise still works but his image has been really badly hurt by some stupid s*** he's done.

Have a look at the number of people whose opinion of Bale has dropped massively - stars trade on rheir glittery awesome patina. Combined with his sister-rage he just doesn't have that now.

He'll still work and get films but will it be as easy, will people want ot work with him, will Directors be as happy to cast him knowing they might have to deal with s*** like this?

No the director is more like a boat captain. A captain may sound like he's in charge - but he still answers to the f***er who paid (and stands to lose money on) for the boat (and his associates).

A lot of directors like to f*** around and waste time with their creativity - so it is a bad idea to have them ultimately responsible to themselves.

There are other people on set like the '1st assistant director' (not an assistant to the director - but an assistant to the producers) who can tell the director what to do on behalf of the producers. Think of the 1st AD as a Sergeant.... loud screaming voice, kind of has to guide the clumsy General along.... or Captain or whatever I said earlier...


But if you've ever been on a movie set - you will know that threats and angry swearing are a normal professional thing to do.

You know it's funny how you say he overreacted and yet half the people in the thread were immediately prepared to write him off for it based on the sound clip. Perhaps overreacting is just a natural human reaction to certain situations.

This is not my understanding of AD. An AD, for example, goes out with a second unit and films stuff that the main cast aren't in, but still answer to the director (is this wrong? Where are you getting yoru info from?).

It most likely depends on contracts that are signed. A director like Michael Bay would effectively not answer to anyone, but still might be on a contract and therefore fireable. In other circumstances, a director might be part of a deal and be "attached" to a script in contract form. In this case, the studio would probably rather fire everyone else before Bale.

What are all your nancies going on about? The way you all were talking about it I thought he was going to explode but in my opinion he was quite tame. Maybe I've heard worse swearing :s.

Christian Bale apologizes

A wave of emotions hit the internet yesterday, when an audio clip of respected actor Christian Bale, yelling at the director of photography, on the set of Terminator Salvation was released. Internet users went wild as they listened to their favorite actor completely belittle a man, and make an ass out of himself. Bale-heads asked themselves if this was really the Christian Bale that they grew to love. How lucky for me then, when I ran into Christian Bale today at a pub. My chubby and grumbly camera man approached Bale and asked him about the situation. He had this to say:

"I apologized to Shane the next day. I was completely out of line, and my actions were far more extreme then needed, but you see as actors, we need complete focus and concentration to do a scene the way it must be done. So when someone catches my eye, and he's doo-dooing in the background, it's very hard for me to keep my cool. We were filming a very important scene, and I guess my emotions caught the best of me. I'm truly sorry to all my fans who lost respect in me. I didn't mean for this to happen, it just happened."

I thanked Mr. Bale, who shook my hand and turned back around to the bar counter, then my husky camera man and I were about to leave when Mr. Bale turned back to us and said "But you know..." He then took a quick shot of his whiskey "That prick really shouldn't have been in my eye line"

"Sorry, Mr. Bale?" I said
"I said I should have kicked his ass!" Before I could respond me and my chubby camera man noticed that Mr. Bale was foaming at the mouth. Literally white foam was oozing from his mouth. Like a rabid dog.
"Mr. Bale, are you oka-" But it was too late. He kicked me straight across the room, into the jutebox. How appropriate that Chubby Chase's song "Do the twist" began playing as Bale proceeded to take my obese camera man's head and slam it onto the counter. He was dead within seconds. His remains were shipped off to feed five poor families in Africa.

At this point however, most of the bar regulars weren't about to let this slide, so they all jumped at Christian at once, but Mr. Bale was too quick. He took a wooden stool and broke across four men. They fell to the floor, splinters in their sides. Mr. Bale then took the leg stools and used them as a sort of katana like weapons, and began beating the rest of the bar regulars.

C'mon baby, and do the twist

He took one of the leg stools and jammed it into one of the poor bar regulars and pinned the man's lifeless body to the wall.

Mr. Bale jumped onto the bar counter and spotted an old lady across the counter. He yelled "Get out of my eye line. I want you off the set you *beep* prick!" He then charged full at her, jumped over her, came up from behind, and snapped her neck. One of the men who were beaten by the wooden stool, looked up at Christian Bale for a split second. Making eye contact was the biggest mistake. "Do you undestand?! You and me are done professionaly!"
"I don't know what you mea-" but he couldn't finish his sentence. Mr. Bale stomped his foot onto the poor man's face, breaking his jaw. Bale then turned to a painting of a naked woman that was displayed on the Pub's wall.
"McG!" Bale yelled at the painting "You gonna do something about this prick?!" The painting did not respond. "Well someone has to keep and eye on him!" Bale then took one of the unconcious Pub regulars head, and proceeded to rip one of their eyes out. "Keep a *beep* eye on him!" Bale threw the eye ball at the painting.

Mr. Bale then walked toward the Pub door, turned to me and said "You're a nice guy. You're a nice guy." He then walked off into the day light. It was a day I will never forget.

Christian Bale rules. He's a f***ing awesome actor and that he gets so heated when his acting (you know, the only thing he does that has anything to do with us) is ruined by noobs is just a testament to how committed he is imo.

The way most of you talk to each other on here I find it pretty funny that you claim your opinions of someone you don't know are severely lowered by hearing a 3 minute sound clip of him yelling at some other guy you don't know about something you have no idea about.

Eh. I listened to Bale's phonecall to KROQ - takes the fun out of it. Still have to hand props to him - his brain explosion was all done with his character's (American) accent. :)
