Alright so i've done a few googles and i haven't found any decent fixes for the iPhone reception. The phone isn't mine originally, i'm with telstra and i used a jailbreak on it to unlock it on my phone, but i get horrible reception. To be honest the phone has no service more then it has service. Anyone know any fixes / tweaks? I've tried wiping it completely and re-installing.. no go, got the latest firmware.. no go...

Run out of ideas :\

edit: The iPhone is an original

3G or original?

You might be better off heading over to forums.whirlpool.net.au, they have a iphone section with some cluey people, but my guess is, if reflashing doesnt work, and it gets s*** reception EVERYWHERE, then its shagged.

2.1.x was supposed to provide a few reception fixes - i didnt really notice but i rarely travel outside of the cbd

i do however frequently go to unlock my phone and it says 'network lost' (its always back by the time i notice) but its very frustrating

cant seem to find a way to turn that notification off

Does it have 3g would be the first question. Sounds like a restore and re-jailbreak would be in order.

and it isn't the phone, just the iphone in general, they draw to much power and the network gets flooded or some s***, gg apple's design work right. ah well back to the old moto

errr, do you have something to substatiate that claim? because thats a pretty out there theory, specially considering that they networks are different for telstra/three and optus/vodaphone .

saw some post, i'll try track it down

edit:
An internal source at AT&T discussed the problems fixed by the 2.0.2 update, explaining, in no uncomplicated terms, that the update controlled the UMTS power control in the phone. Each iPhone requires a small amount of power from the transmitter and that power is requested by the phone itself. If too many phones ask for too much power at once, the transmitter starts shutting down, resulting in dropped calls. The iPhone 3G was asking for too much power and, in 2.0.2, has been fixed to stop requesting that power so often.

Not sure if this fix... did indeed fix all since plenty of people still have next to no connection, when switching to a different phone gives full reception.
