I've just upgraded from Windows XP to the Windows 7 beta today, and am having problems with getting my PC and my Modded Xbox with Xbox Media Centre connected so that I can stream movies / music. Previously with XP, I'd just share whatever folder I'd like to stream across the network, and login with my Administrator account / password and I'd have full access to any shared folders. Doing the same thing doesn't seem to be working after the format/reinstall though. I've shared the folder to Everyone, and when attempting to login using the username/password on my xbox, it just simply doesn't accept it and drops me straight back to the login screen. Has anyone encountered a similar issue, or could shed some light on something I might possibly be doing wrong? Thanks |

When you shared the folder - did you see any leftover ownership rights? I've had to delete them for sharing to work.

I'm not sure what you mean by that? If you're talking about Permissions, the only Permission I have set is "Everyone".

I just uinstalled Windows 7 but I did get media sharing working with my PS3.
Does XBMC use SMB sharing or does it using Windows Media Player Sharing? +I enabled sharing without a password (although it seems like you're using a password +With the PS3 on I was able to see it as a device on the network and was able to allow media sharing to it. As I said, might not be your situation to a tee, but it's what I encountered. |
