we lost this game yesterday :(

i coudlnt believe after a day of sightseeing, coming home to check the cricket and we'd gone from totally in the drivers seat, to being down runs.

im totally not suprised australian batsmen are finding ways to get out when a safrican bowler can hang around for 4 hours plus and hit 70 against our best bowling attack

It took me 15 seconds to work out what the hell this thread was about.

Thought it was about some long-running TV show about home renovations or auctions being axed.

what he's doing is bowling only by the smallest of technicalities... if he gets us out of this mess, all will be forgiven and I will pay homage to him

Bring back Bracken.

For years the Aussie team has remained pretty much unchanged apart from retirements and the occasional horses for courses selection. I used to laugh at the way other teams would always be chopping and changing the sides and captains.

It is our turn for that now :(

I'm unsure as to why people blame the captain, other than he's the captain - is there actually a good, valid reason for it? If anyone in the team is representing atm, its Ponting, and it just looks like we're hopelessly outmatched by a better team at the moment. If that's anyone's fault its the selectors, right? Or whatever generation is responsible for not bringing up more cricketers.

ponting has made some pretty bad decisions recently as captain

he is still one of the best contributers for the team though

maybe its time for another captain and ponting just plays on as our no3 batsmen

I guess the theory is if things are going badly the best way to initiate change is to replace the captain. Personally I don't agree with it and think Ponting does an alright job.

Hayden and Lee have to go though.

Meh it isnt ponting's job to teach these duds how to bowl and bat.

Hussy
symonds
hayden
lee

all need a kick in the face.

I ended up giving up on the cricket and watching Broncos v Chargers instead and it was far far more entertaining.

Bound to happen eventually, what rugby world cup, ashes, rugby league world cup, now probably cricket.

IMO it's better when a dominant country (Australia in this case) loosing at something they were good at. It's getting f***ing boring watching a one sided match year in year out, it's not even a competition any more. It's like when the US lost BBall in Olympics.

/runs.

i love how the commentators regularly reference the players "form" and how certain players are not in "good form" at the moment hence their s***ty performance. why do they continue to be selected if they are in s*** form? why is inconsistancy so regularly overlooked in the selection process?

my only guess is if they chopped and changed randoms all the time the fans would find it hard to identify the players and lose interest?

It's because Australia were winning all the time, so why change the side of it's winning?

Now that we are losing we will see some changes.

I find channel 9s commentary team to be pretty unbearable these days. I much prefer ABC radio's cast, they seem to go into a lot more depth about the tactics/strategy and play. It's a shame sometime there is a noticeable delay between the radio and HD broadcast, otherwise i would have TV perma-muted with ABC blaring.

i look forward to the change then. they put johnson and haddin in (recently enough) and they are kickin ass. lee can piss off to india, symo can hang out for 20/20's and haydo can go chill with the pope. problem solved.

I miss 'best of five' test series. :)

I was at the game today. Can't help but think there were better ways to spend the short amount of time I had in Melbourne..

out of form players staying in happens mainly because of a loyalty policy employed by CA to show faith in players who have performed in the past, and, with proper support, will perform again in the (not too distant) future.

cutting players after two "failed" tests like in hussey's case will destroy his confidence, and the incoming player will feel heaps of pressure to perform also, knowing that hussey will be knocking on the door soon too.

so basically cricketers have problems keeping it up and their best form of nasal delivery technology is CA showing faith in a brother and not reading qgl forums for selection advice.

I blame Taylor. I don't know what it is, but I find everything he says at the very least completely uninsightful, and at the worst insulting to my intelligence.

Hussey has had a few bad decisions against him lately, cant get rid of hussey.

Hadden looked great until he got out, and he did score higher than alot of the other players in the team.

symmonds did s*** this test, but wasnt too bad in the last test. He has been coming in lately when the top order hasnt done well, which makes it alot harder for him to play his natural game which is to score runs quickly.

Lee hasnt been bowling that badly, has been unlucky to not get more wickets.

Also, why the f*** did they get rid of kreja? Doesnt make sense, they get rid of him after 1 test match? Its not like huritz is heaps better. He also scored a few runs, which seems to be what australia needs at the moment with the top order going down.

Quit the sledging - it's christmas and they're aussie. Obviously their thought was on beers and just getting the game over with. It's the time of year for celebration not work ~

Most professional athletes are being overplayed these days.
It eventually takes its toll and your body gives out.

It's a combination of retaining players out of form and playing injured players.

Gotta feel for Watson too, here is his chance and he can't bowl again for 4-6 months!

Some pretty retarded posts in this thread, yeah blame the captain that lee, stuart clarke, symonds and that other c*** are all injured. Why are you all blaming our batting? We have hit respectable scores in 3 of 4 innings. But are lacking bowlers to take 10 wickets. f*** hussey was bowling the other day... Lee isn't at his best atm but he is still a better bowler than most. We miss stuart clarke big time at the moment and spinners well i'm not even going there. Get a clue ffs before you blame the captain.

Anyone think that its UnAustralian for commentators to attack the Captain ?

Ponting was awesome batting in that test.
That first innings was a class above any other and that includes Duminoys knock.

Maybe hes struggling because in the past he let warney and Co tell him what to do.
Imagine if Punter didnt play in that match.
I cant believe the mighty Australia has fallen so far.

His batting and captaincy are two different things ... but he does lead a good example!

still reckon we should have given kreja another go, i know he didnt do too well in the last game, but huritz doesnt exactly have a good record either.
